There are some television shows out there that are difficult to truly hate. In terms of sitcoms, Friends is almost universally remembered fondly, while shows like Breaking Bad, The X-Files and for something current, Game of Thrones are all widely considered among the best in terms of drama, science fiction and fantasy. While they may not be everyone's cup of tea, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who ruthlessly hates these programs.

Other shows, however, do enjoy the distinction of being highly polarizing, to use a diplomatic term. While we could go on all day about shows that people either love or hate, we'll just say that Family Guy is about as obvious as it comes when someone mentions a show people either can't get enough of or can't change the channel quickly enough. While the show does borrow heavily from basically any family based sitcom (animated or otherwise), it stands in a class all by itself for its mastery of the ridiculous, including nonsensical cutaway gags, hilariously obscene musical numbers, and of course the constant struggle to push the metaphorical envelope ever further.

As we said, the show is certainly not for everyone, but those who enjoy it will tell you that for every vulgar, low-brow joke and ludicrous episode plot line, there is pure genius at play behind this show. Haters will deny it, but the true fans of this show know that there is more going on than what meets the eye, and that while viewership has dropped off in recent years, Family Guy remains one of the funniest, and smartest shows on television. Here are twenty five questions that only the most dedicated fans will be able to answer.

Question 1

According to Mort Goldman, what is "Jewish Honey"?

Mort Goldman is a hilarious caricature of some negative Jewish stereotypes, and frequently finds himself on the receiving end of prejudicial behavior. He is the owner of Quahog's pharmacy which became the subject of an episode back in season ten. In that episode, while showing Peter, Joe and Quagmire around the Pharmacy, he mentions that he sings all the songs on the pharmacy's playlist. He then mentions that people have told him that he has "Jewish Honey" in his voice.

Question 2

Of Peter and his close group of friends, who is the oldest?

It was established early on in the show that Cleveland and Peter had known each other for some time, and that Quagmire and Peter met early on in Peter's relationship with Lois. In the first season we met paraplegic cop Joe Swanson, who became the fourth member of this eclectic group. There is one member who is significantly older than the other three, revealing at the Drunken Clam that he is actually over 60, much to the shock of his friends.

Question 3

How much does Peter Griffin Weigh?

Peter Griffin, like many other main male characters throughout the history of sitcoms, is morbidly obese. His weight has fluctuated to some extent over the years. After he got laid off from work, he sat on the couch and did nothing but eat, and got much fatter. Of course he also got numerous surgical enhancements in one episode, which likely would have reduced his weight. However, he did mention a steady weight at which he had stayed since grade school in the twelfth season.

Question 4

Which celebrity does Peter think looks like a sick dog?

Back in the tenth season, Family Guy fans got familiarized with Glenn Quagmire's sister Brenda and her abusive boyfriend Jeffrey Fecalman. Jeff is a cruel, loud, obnoxious person, and he treats Brenda about as badly as one can imagine. The episode "Screams of Silence: The Story of Brenda Q" was actually hard to watch at some points, but it did have a nice ending, when Quagmire was able to kill Jeff and free his sister from their toxic relationship. During the episode, Peter and Lois watch a movie together and Peter sadly points out "that yellow lab looks like it's dying".

Question 5

When Carter Pewterschmidt fought in the Great Alaskan War, what animal did the enemy ride into battle?

In season nine, during the episode "Welcome Back, Carter", we learn about the backstory of Lois' parents, Carter and Babs. Long before the events of the show, the two met when Carter smacked Babs after her beach ball knocked a drink out her hands while the two were on a beach. Shortly after meeting, Carter was called away to a fictitious war with Alaska. During that conflict, an infamous group of enemy warriors rode into battle on these large animals.

Question 6

Which of the following jokes from the show has creator Seth MacFarlane said he regrets?

One of the things most fans love about this show is the shock value associated with the humor. While some shows are clever, and others rely on slapstick gags, Family Guy runs the gamut of comedic styles, opting for smart humor at some points, and vulgarity at other times. Creator Seth MacFarlane has said that he considers the show an "equal opportunity offender", but also told Entertainment Weekly that he does have some jokes that he regrets making, admitting they were over the top in terms of bad taste, including this one.

Question 7

What iconic rock song does Stewie get the band aboard the Titanic to play?

In season thirteen, Brian, Stewie, and Chris traveled through time in the hope that it would help Chris study for a history exam. They end up on the Titanic when it starts sinking and then must escape the ship. Prior to the collision with the iceberg, Stewie gives the band on board the sheet music for this rock song.

In season seven, during the episode "420", Glenn Quagmire discovered a cat living under his house and adopted him. Peter accidentally kills James later in that episode, trying to shave the cat, but killing it in the process. In season eleven, Quagmire has a new cat, and leaves her with Lois when the four friends leave for a few days to find and kill the man who paralyzed Joe.

Question 9

When Brian died in season twelve, what was Quagmire doing during Brian's funeral?

There aren't many times the audience of "Family Guy" was brought to tears, but saying goodbye to Brian back in season twelve (even though it ended up being temporary) was hard to take. He was hit by a car while playing street hockey with Stewie, and died shortly thereafter at an animal hospital. The family was devastated and held a funeral for their beloved anthropomorphic pet. It is no secret that Quagmire and Brian don't care for each other, what was he doing while Brian was being buried?

Vinny used many stereotypical Italian-American mannerisms and was actually voiced by a prominent Italian-American actor who was a regular on "The Sopranos".

Question 16

What kind of vehicle does God drive?

God is a recurring character in "Family Guy" but if you're a devoted religious follower, their portrayal of this divine character might be considered offensive. They have made jokes about God being slightly autistic, shown him aiming a sniper rifle at people down on Earth, and shown him drunk, insisting that his assistants put mismatched breasts on a man and calling the person Rosie O'Donnell. God's vehicle of choice is mentioned only once back in the fourth season after he accidentally sets a woman on fire while trying to light her cigarette.

While in the country, the four friends see a brief clip of a K-Pop girl group and Peter asks "what is this and how can I make the rest of my life about it?".

Question 22

Who is the voice of Brian's ex-girlfriend Jillian?

What would this show be without a dumb blonde? We first met Jillian Russell back in season five. Brian had started a relationship with her, but was frustrated by the fact that she was absurdly stupid. Among her funniest moments are thinking her box of Junior Mints is an iPod, and lamenting how many lemons have to be killed for every glass of lemonade. Brian later realizes that he thinks he is in love with Jillian, but by that time she is engaged to man better than Brian in every way. Her voice should sound familiar.

Question 23

Which celebrity has a bulldog that wears a New York Jets jersey?

In "The 2000 Year Old Virgin", Peter becomes obsessed with a massage chair and eventually comes to an agreement with Jesus Christ that if Jesus can spent the night with Lois, he will buy Peter the expensive chair. Jesus told Peter he was a virgin and that was his reason for wanting to bed Lois. This was later found to be a lie, and Jesus just dropped that story on a guy any time he wanted to sleep with that man's wife (who is going to say no to the son of God?). When talking about the chair, Peter imagines this celebrity's basement and imagines he has a similar chair, leading to the cutaway gag with the dog.

Bruce lied to his partner Jeffrey about his age, how old is Bruce really?

In the episode "Underage Peter", drunken shenanigans by Peter, Cleveland, Quagmire, and Joe leads to the drinking age being raised to 50. Peter is outraged, but the gang eventually figure out that they can get booze through Brian, who is technically over 50 in dog years. They end up getting caught, Brian is charged, and Peter decides to get the drinking age changed back, and recruits Bruce and Jeffrey to help out, under the theory that getting "the gays" mad about something is the best way to bring change. When they meet with Mayor West, he points out that Bruce is actually legal age to have a drink, and it is revealed that Bruce lied to Jeffrey.

Question 25

Which New England Patriot does Lois find most attractive?

Two memorable episodes involved cameos by members of the New England Patriots. Tom Brady hired Peter to play center for the team back in season four in "Patriot Games". More recently in season fifteen, tight end and party animal Rob Gronkowski moves into the Griffin's neighborhood. While Peter is excited to live near such a celebrity, Lois is concerned that he will be a nuisance. There are numerous other football references in the series, but can you remember which Patriot Lois has the hots for?
