The Legend of Korra is one of the very best animated shows to ever grace American screens. The spin-off of Avatar: The Last Airbender followed Korra, the avatar who came after Aang and tries to live up to his legacy. The show ran for four seasons, and although it was never as popular as Avatar, it developed a rabid fan base over the course of its run. The show's ending inspired plenty of conversation, as did the rest of the show's run. In the series, we got a sense of how the world had developed as Aang became an adult, and eventually died.

The series also gave us a wonderful protagonist in the form of Korra, who was strong-willed and stubborn, but wanted to help people more than anything. Korra was the opposite of Aang in many ways, because she always wanted to be the avatar when Aang never wanted the job. Korra relished her special status and her skills, and used them to do everything she could for those around her. She came to define herself by her title, and that's what much of the show's story became focused on. Always thrilling, and sometimes moving, there's much to be had in The Legend of Korra. This quiz is for those who love the show for all of those things.

Question 1

What Element Does Korra Need to Learn When the Series Starts?

Korra is much further along in her training than Aang was when we first met her, but there's one element that she has yet to master. Korra is eager to learn everything she can about how to be a better fighter, but she struggles with this element, in part because it conflicted with the forceful nature of her personality. Korra ultimately masters the element at the end of the show's first season, but only after months of struggling to achieve that mastery.

Question 2

How Does Amon Take Away Bending?

Amon Takes Bending Legend of Korra

The villain of the show's first season had the power to take people's bending away, and that power really terrified Korra. Korra eventually falls victim to Amon, and loses her bending in the process. Amon claims to have been given this power through his interactions with spirits, but it's unclear whether that is the truth. Amon wants to make benders and non-benders equals, and so he takes away the bending of many powerful benders, but everything isn't really so clear cut.

Question 3

Who is the Villain of the Show's First Season?

Amon The Legend of Korra

Early on in the series, Korra is introduced to Republic City, a large metropolitan areas where every kind of bender is free to interact with one another peacefully. As she makes her way through the city, though, she realizes that there's discord brewing. Although this concern is legitimate, the leader of the movement is the villain of season one, and is using this political movement to achieve his own ends.

Question 4

What Sport do Korra, Mako and Bolin Compete in in Season 1?

Pro Bending Legend of Korra

Even as Korra grows accustomed to life in Republic City, she also joins Mako and Bolin in a sporting event, battling other teams in a league that resembles boxing, but with the added twist of bending. The show sidelines this element substantially later on in its run, but much of the first season focuses on this league, and on whether Korra's team the Fire Ferrets will win it. The name of this league can be hard to remember, but it does take up quite a bit of plot.

Question 5

What Kind of Animal Does Korra Have?

Naga The Legend of Korra

Part of the signature of every Avatar is the animal that they choose as their companion. Aang had Appa and Momo, but Korra's a water bender, so her animal of choice was quite different. Although she couldn't fly, Naga proved herself to be very useful to Korra in a variety of situation, and helped her stay connected to her water bending roots no matter where in the world she might be. Animal companions might seem silly, but in these stories, they're incredibly important.

One of the most interesting things about Korra was seeing characters we'd known as children as adults, with everything that entailed.

Question 20

Who Is Season 4's Villain?

Kuvira The Legend of Korra

Zaheer and the villains of the show's third season proved hard to top, and so the show didn't really try. Instead, they introduced a character who wanted to create a new Earth Kingdom under her rule. Although he or she wasn't as compelling a figure as Zaheer, they did prove to be an interesting foil for Korra. Season 4 ultimately became an exploration of Korra's own identity, and so using this character as a foil worked perfectly, and made for some fun fights.

Question 21

What's The Legend of Korra's Second Season Called?

Korra Season 2

In the show's second season, Korra enters the realm of the spirit world and engages in a battle with Vaatu, an ancient and elemental evil that wants to unleash chaos on the world. The show's second season is widely regarded as its least successful, but that doesn't mean there aren't many elements that work wonderfully. Question 22

What's The Legend of Korra's Fourth Season Called?

The final season of The Legend of Korra brought some serious expectations with it. Fans were eager to see how the show would conclude, and were heavily invested in the story of its central character. Question 23

Who is Mako Named After?

Mako The Legend of Korra

The real-world man who shares Mako's name was given a moving tribute during Avatar, but the creators of both shows felt that the man deserved more. As a result, they decided to name an entire character in Avatar's spin-off series after him, and a pretty important one at that.

For the first time in the series, Bolin becomes a fairly lethal fighter, even as he remains a pretty goofy guy on the whole.

Question 25

What Does Korra do at the End of the Series?

The final scene of The Legend of Korra delighted fans because of all that it said about who Korra had become over the course of the show's four season run. Korra makes a bold decision in the show's final moment, but it's one that feels true to her character, and made a big impact both onscreen and in the real world.

Question 26

Who is the Villain of the Show's Second Season?

The show's second season is typically regarded as its weakest, but that doesn't mean that it's irredeemable. In fact, there's much to love in the series, and for part of its run, the season's villain was one of those beloved elements. This character, Korra's uncle, is the chief of the Northern Water Tribe, and wants to reconnect this world with the world of the spirits. Although his plan gets a little bit fuzzy after that, the character is still fascinating, in part because of all the ways he doesn't work.

Question 27

How Does Korra Say in Her First Scene?

It was obviously going to be very difficult to introduce us to a totally new avatar after audiences had fallen so hard for Aang. Instead of attempting to create another version of Aang, the show's creators decided that they should go a completely different route, and that route started with Korra's very first scene. Although she is only a child, she's already incredibly confident in her abilities, and is ready to take on the mantle of the world's protector. She couldn't be more different than Aang.

Question 28

It's a testament to her development over the course of the season, and her gifts as an avatar.

Question 34

How Does Zaheer Kill the Earth Queen?

The Earth Queen Legend of Korra

There aren't many on screen deaths in the world of Avatar and The Legend of Korra, so Zaheer's assassination of the Earth Queen sticks out in many fan's minds. The show made little effort to hide the brutality of the killing, and it proved to be a turning point that suggested how serious a threat the Red Lotus truly was. Equalist Chi Blocking The Legend of Korra

This technique was first introduced in Avatar, but it becomes much more ubiquitous during The Legend of Korra, when many of Amon's followers begin using it to paralyze fighters who use bending as a weapon. It proves to be hugely effective, especially against Korra, who relies very heavily on her skill as a bender. The Equalists prove a potent opponent in part because they threaten Korra's existence as a bender, and because they prove that those without bending abilities can still be a huge threat.
