Are You Team Archie Or Team Juggie?

When Netflix released their adaptation this year of the Archie comics, everyone with good taste was psyched. For many, this was their childhood memories reenacted in a way they could have never imagined. The loveable goof, Archie, always brought many laughs and many interesting challenges for the gang of characters. Jughead was every teen's spirit animal when it comes to enjoying a good meal. When we got to meet the TV series characters we were all shocked and pleased. First off, Archie and Jughead are both more than amazing to look at. They were also developed in ways that reflect and encompass living diversely in the modern day. Archie was not just the jock or the musician but the caring, generous only child of divorced parents. Jughead was not only the annoying kid eating Pop's out of business but a writer and a survivor. And, despite the fact that the two are like brothers and act cohesively, the series puts the two characters at odds in ways that may just make you have a favourite of the two. This quiz will help match you to your most compatible character. We'll tally the number of "right" and "wrong" answers you have to see whether you're really Team Archie (over 50%) or Team Juggie (under 50%).

Question 1

True or False? You would take a milkshake over a coffee any day.

A staple of Riverdale is the evening hangout at the iconic Pop's, drinking milkshakes and having delicious burgers. But, if you know Archie and Juggie, then you know exactly what treat they go for. If you are Team Juggie, you likely enjoy sitting in a cafe working or going on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or even Snapchat. Archie tends to be more of a social eater, and you probably find yourself out often with friends at restaurants and the "coolest hangout" spots.

Question 2

Your ultimate date would be:

Riverdale is a small town, meaning there's limited things to do with friends on weekends or just in general. Jughead slept and worked at the drive-in before the property was sold and demolished, and he grew up believing it was the best place in town. In a cozy nook, told stories of childhood and coming to the drive-in, it would definitely be an awesome date idea. After a tough summer of working and growing up (and growing hot), Archie finally can join the football team. This pride of the town, football, could really be a nice date of letting loose and admiring sports.

Question 3

Betty or Veronica?

Betty and Veronica are both unique, bold, and caring women. On the average day, Betty is writing articles and cracking mysteries, and Veronica is busy being heard, leading and being compassionate. Both Archie and Jughead see these qualities in the girls and are drawn to them. After having a tough talk about Betty's unrequited love for Archie, the Jughead/Betty/Archie love triangle could be broken. But if you were Archie or Juggie, how would that scenario have gone? Betty or Veronica?

Question 4

When you get upset, would you rather:

Riverdale is a whirlwind drama! Imagine if you were busy with school, exams, work, etc and then you had to deal with murder and conspiracy on top of that? No wonder sometimes the characters are feeling blue. Archie has his torrid affair with a teacher, his parents' divorce, a budding music career, and homework to deal with. Juggie has homelessness, his father's arrest, and his newspaper job to juggle. So, sometimes the boys just have got to hide out or cool down.

Question 5

True or False? You feel weird stepping out of the house without a hat, a sweater or something comfy.

Almost everyone understands that as humans we need personal space, but oddly enough, many don't understand the need for comfort and habit-- at least not when it comes to wearing comfy clothes. Jughead is definitely a creature of habit, but Archie is a bit less predictable in some ways. The notorious crown toque that Juggie wears is his go-to comfort item. Whereas Archie doesn't really have a set comfort item, he does appreciate comfort and style. How well does this statement apply to you?

Question 6

You would rather:

Juggie's walk off into the distance is almost iconic after the first season. He often finds himself in tricky situations where he feels like he might just have to take a break or go away for a while. He'll walk it out, buy a train ticket, and then chill out. On the other side, it's not unusual to see Archie in the "love-bug" or in his father's truck as he goes around town. A perfectly relaxing night for him would probably be sitting in the back of the truck singing up at the stars with his guitar.

Question 7

True or False? You're nervous in new social situations or meeting new people.

Here's a question where the answer may surprise you. Often we might expect the silent, solitary person to also be introverted and awkward but even quiet people have interesting things to say. Thinking back to the crew trying to rescue Juggie from going to school on the south side, they were more nervous than him. When Archie is away from people who don't know and love him, he often clashes personalities. For instance, when he met Josie and the Pussycats to try and collaborate with them, we all had to cringe.

Question 8

You thought _____________ killed Jason Blossom.

Who killed Jason Blossom? That was the question that the viewers were asking all season as they watched the characters develop. The beauty of the show was how anticlimactic the ending was, revealing his killer. Watching Archie, Juggie, and the others' dynamics and teamwork really helped connect with them and showed that sometimes we don't know and can't understand people and their motives. Archie was all for helping anyone in the search for Jason Blossom's killer, but Jughead was more of the investigator type: he wanted answers. What were you thinking this season? Do you think they'll reveal the reason for the killer's suicide next season?

Question 9

True or False? You thought that Mrs. Grundy and Archie's relationship was fifty shades of wrong.

Steamy car sex scenes and furtive schoolroom make-out sessions had viewers feeling all sorts of scandalous about Archie. And, most of us would have been totally down for his sex-capades had they not been with Mrs. Grundy, his music teacher. Some were won over by the show and sympathized with her. Some realized a person didn't have to be evil to be doing something wrong, and that Archie was a victim of abuse and not to be disregarded. Mrs. Grundy can have sex with a student and not see any consequences, but we couldn't even add our teachers on Facebook in high school? Hm.

Question 10

True or False? You noticed that Juggie NEVER ate a burger from Pop's.

So if you know anything about the traditional Jughead character, you know he can REALLY eat. At lunch and after school he would be at Pop's scarfing down practically a five course meal. In the TV series we rarely see Juggie eat anything-- let alone his trademark burger. When Buzzfeed released a video of Cole Sprouse chowing down on a burger, the world of Riverdale fans were so ready. If you still had Archie on the mind, it might have passed you by.

Question 11

You write in a _______

At the end of a long day, your head is likely whirling with thoughts, worries, and emotions. For the teens in Riverdale their day ends accordingly more often than not. The show allows us to follow a unique group of people, each with their own way of dealing with stress. Jughead tends to be analytical; he plays over the day and focuses in on the details. Archie likes to kick back and not worry so much. They both cope with much the same medium: writing.

Question 12

You preferred:

The independent, loving, happy Valerie is many people's favourite character. This girl knows whats good for her and she is going to get it! When that was Archie, she committed, and when it wasn't, she wasn't afraid to leave and stick with her choice. Veronica is ingenious and compassionate but when it comes to Archie she doesn't know what she wants. There relationship is new, so we can't judge them too quickly, but it seems they are caught in lust with each other.

Question 13

True or False? You would do anything if your friends or family were in trouble.

Archie and Juggie are both fiercely protective characters. Archie has a bit of a hero complex, and intervene any time for someone he loves. Juggie is extremely caring. He loves his little sister, Jellybean, that we havent met yet. Also he's very keen that everyone get the justice they deserve. Archie cracksthrough the ice to save Cheryl, runs after Jughead, and pulls together a team of friends to help his father's construction business. Jughead documents and theorizes Jason Blossom's death, support's Betty, and never loses faith in FP.

Question 14

True or False? You know when someone's lying to you.

Riverdale is a show of secrets and lies, so the characters have it hard. There's a murderer running loose, and the investigation for it is at a loss. Anyone and everyone is a suspect, so trusting their gut for their safety is tough. Some characters are better at it than others and more keen to investigation. Betty unravels her parents' lies and omissions to figure out her past, but other characters, like Archie, are more in the dark. Meanwhile, Juggie is busy piecing together the big picture bit by bit.

Question 15

True or False? You feel reluctant to ask help from someone.

Asking for help can be hard, especially when you are prideful or just independent. When Jughead is homeless and finding small hideouts around town to camp out in, he doesn't know who to reach out to. The Andrews teach an amazing lesson of forgiveness and altruism when they take Jughead into their home. Even in a small town it's easy for someone to fall through the cracks, like Esther or Polly before the others step in. Thankfully they do step in!

Question 16

True or False? You tend to do favours a lot.

Archie finds it hard to say no to anyone, and people find it hard to say no to Archie as well. Remember the Blossom's creepy family reunion? None of us needed to see that much red clothing. Still, Archie escorted Cheryl and played to her family's whims, even endangering his relationship with Valerie. Jughead is very intelligent and won't stand for being manipulated, so we don't see him granting Cheryl any favors. Both Juggie and Archie are extremely kind, meaning there's not as big of a divide over this question.

Question 17

True or False? You don't like surprises

Murder, lost siblings, pregnancy, kidnapping, and drugs are more than enough surprises for the Riverdale crew. Some characters, like Veronica, are along for the ride and don't mind a little spontaneity. Others, like Juggie, when Betty threw him a surprise birthday party are nonplussed when it comes to surprises. But, a good time with friends and some cake is an offer that not even Juggie can refuse. Archie won't refuse a surprise either, like a new guitar or arranged meeting.

Question 18

Fight or Flight?

The show establishes that both Archie and Juggie are fiercely protective, but those qualities manifest in different ways. Jughead will sacrifice and do what he believes is best for those he loves. Similarly, Archie will give generously and dedicate himself to a loved one's problems. In addition, their split-second reactions to trouble, which are exemplified throughout the show, are complete opposites. When everything is falling apart and FP gets arrested, its the height of the two boys differences. What would you have done?

Question 19

True or False? You can be a bit flakey.

Time to fess up! We're all at least a little bit guilty of being flakey, whether it was texting back three days later or faking sick on an evening out. Both Archie and Juggie are there for their friends and family when it counts for the most part, but we definitely do see one character struggling with this the most. His penchant for a "flight" reaction, means that sometimes when things get hard he hides away-- or worse, runs away.

Question 20

When FP was put into jail:

We were all expecting it, but none of us were ready for FP's arrest. His shady business as ring-leader of the South Side Snakes was likely going to end badly, but Juggie and the viewers saw him rounding a corner, sobering up. In a lot of ways his arrest was tragic, but some could see it as good. Taking him out of a crime ring for a while could be beneficial or even help him to get into more legitimate work.

Question 21

True or False: You read the original Archie's comic series.

Founded in 1939, Archie Comics and its publication company, have been around for almost three generations of childhoods. We could buy them for a couple of dollars at the corner store with our 5 cent candy and be entertained for hours. There's the traditional Archie comic but also stories from Betty, Veronica, Jughead and Josie & the Pussycats. Knowing Archie and Juggie from Riverdale, their interests and passions are obvious. Jughead tends to sombrely write and Archie will be playing music or football or helping his dad.

Question 22

KJ Apa is:

If you're on a team, you've got to know the players. Archie Andrews, played by actor KJ APA, born Keneti James Apa, is new to American screens. He is a twenty-year-old soap-opera star, who was cast after a worldwide search. A "heartthrob" that many teen girls fawn over, KJ spends his free time skateboarding and playing guitar and piano. He has two older sisters and his father, first named Keneti, is the chief of his tribe in Samoa, but he grew up in Auckland.

Question 23

Your favourite show as a kid was:

If you grew up in the 2000's you're likely very familiar with one of Cole Sprouse's first major long term roles in the TV series "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody". The twenty-five year-old and his twin brother, Dylan, starred in the series and its reboot for six years. They both completed their undergrad degrees at New York University. In his time not spent filming, Cole writes, snowboards, and reads comics. He was cast in the role of Jughead Jones in 2016.

Question 24

When Betty went "crazy Polly" mode you were:

After Chuck harassed and humiliated Esther, Veronica, and others, the girls took matters into their own hands. Betty, then under pressure about her sister and about family life, wanted to teach Chuck a lesson. Dressed to seduce him, Betty practically boiled Chuck alive in a hot-tub. It was slightly crazy and also slightly satisfying. All the qualities that we craved to see from Betty: confidence, anger, spite; we got them. Except for the boiling people alive thing, Betty was goals.

Question 25

True or False? Every time Archie sings, you melt.

The Riverdale soundtrack features many artists, and also members of the cast like KJ Apa. His songs and his voice are meant to be honest and reflect his emotions of that point in time. All Riverdale is missing is a romantic "Veronarchie" serenade. Here he is pictured singing with Josie and the Pussycats, an all female band, with Veronica for a town celebration. The Archie original, "Share It With You" is a romantic and inspiring introduction to Betty speech afterwards.

Question 26

Pick one:

Some fans are truly dedicated to the Riverdale fandom, and study up on it better than they do classes for their GPA. The soundtrack is available to stream on Spotify, and Archie Comics are still sold at corner and comic stores almost worldwide. We have seen t-shirts, backpacks, gifs, memes, and twitter dedications to Riverdale. The only thing we are waiting on now is to see some creative Riverdale tatties. A maple syrup tattoo maybe? Show us what you've got world!

Question 27

Veronica's "cheerlead-off" with Cheryl:

Most Riverdale watchers were not quite sure why there was a random dance-off scene between Cheryl and Veronica, but most enjoyed it. The level of sass behind each move had us going "Yaaaass Queen!", and the defeat was so salty we could feel the burn. It was awesome with a hint of spontaneous musical moments tacky. If you got caught up in the tackiness, this may not have been your moment. Keeping the boys in mind, Archie is more out there and Jughead is a bit more subdued.

Question 28

True or False? You don't trust Polly.

When we first met Polly she was pregnant and still trying to run away with her already dead boyfriend. Before, she was ready to abandon her sister, Betty, without a second glance/word. Then, once Betty finally found her locked away, she jumped out of a window and escaped the hospital. That comes off as a little crazy and untrustworthy, especially seeing as she later moves in with the creepy Blossoms to "watch them" in case they gave away Jason's killer. Watch from afar girl!

Question 29

True or False? You suspected Polly and Betty had a secret brother all along.

The Coopers were always up to something. Although they have this need to "expose the truth" about everyone else, they are probably the characters that keep the most secrets and tell the most lies. Mr. Cooper steals the sheriff's files and halts the investigation so that he won't be investigated. Mrs. Cooper lies and manipulates to control Betty. We discover as well that the Coopers gave away their son for adoption. That's an understandable secret to keep, but certainly only the cherry on top of the pile of lies.

Question 30

In your friend group, you often categorize yourself as:

One of the most important aspects of the show is observing the dynamics of a group of diverse young people. Betty is the glue. Veronica is the spice. Kevin is the cool gay friend. Archie is the fun one. And Jughead is the wild-guy. Each having such qualities, takes on certain roles in the group. Archie knows where to be and what to do and jumps in head first. Whereas, Juggie knows where to settle in and chill and he waits for the crew to show up.

Question 31

You love:

Some of Archie's passions include singing, playing guitar, writing music, and hanging out with friends. He plays on the school football team when it doesn't interfere with his advancements in music. Juggie's interests include writing for the school newspaper, writing his short story, watching movies, and hanging out at Pop's. He's a pretty average student at school, and focuses more so on his home life. For a while, when he was homeless, he camped out at the drive-in, or at school.

Question 32

Sometimes it feels like:

In such a drama-filled town, emotions run high at times. Archie's dad's business is about to go bankrupt, while they are still recovering from the divorce. As for Juggie, he sometimes has nowhere to go, with his mother and sister in Toledo, and father an erratic alcoholic. We can all understand how they may feel at times. When you're having a really bad day or something has gone wrong, we have go-to reactions. How do you react to tough situations?

Question 33

True or False? You're sometimes too trusting.

"Trust me," your brother says, as he leads you down to Sweetwater River to fake his drowning. Do you do it? Like Cheryl, you may be too trusting of others. As for Archie and Juggie, they're both too rational to "jump" on somebody's say so, but one does tend to be more naive than the other. One is very regulated by the rules, and analyses everything beforehand. This character is also more likely to plant ahead and investigate others intentions.

Question 34

If you and your friend liked the same person, you would:

More prone to jumping into situations, Archie and Veronica spontaneously hook-up, and then deal with the fallout afterwards. Betty, who had crushed on Archie for years, is told about the budding relationship as an afterthought. Juggie and Betty, when getting together made sure that everyone around them was comfortable with it because of their weird love-triangle friendships. Obviously some couples are more cautious about love than others, but, some may say, why ask for permission anyway? Maybe you err on the side of caution.

Question 35

True or False? You value honesty above all else.

Depending on your interpretation of honesty, you may be a Kevin Keller, someone with almost no filter when it comes to the truth. Every now and again you could tell a white lie like Veronica-- the perfect pair to Kevin's honesty. We come to notice that Archie and Juggie tend to prefer strict honesty, whereas the other can tell a few white lies. Where there is no truth there is no order, and that means chaos, thinks the darker-minded of the two. Check your tally: Over 50%: You're definitely Team Archie! A fun, spontaneous, optimistic and sometimes naive kind of person. Under 50%: You're a member of Team Juggie! People can count on you for stability, honesty, and an intellectual conversation.
