Are You A Vampire Or A Werewolf?

The Twilight books were first published in 2005, and were released annually for the next four years. When they were made into movies beginning in 2008, the popularity of Twilight was at an all-time high, and it would only continue to grow. These books and movies largely created the current pop-culture obsession with vampires, werewolves, and other mythical creatures. In the 12 years since Twilight first came out, these creatures have dominated popular culture, with everything from The Vampire Diaries to True Blood to Being Human and countless other television shows and movies. Productions like these were around before this of course, like Teen Wolf and Van Helsing. But Twilight pushed the fascination with it all forward.

The Twilight Saga is the story of teenager Bella Swan, who relocates to the Pacific Northwest to live with her dorky dad. There, she befriends her childhood buddy Jacob, and falls in love with the mysterious Edward. Little does she know that neither of them are human, and it is not long before the three teenagers are entwined in a dramatic love triangle.

Most people who are familiar with Twilight find themselves either "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob", but there is more to knowing whether you are a vampire or a werewolf than just that. This quiz will address the rest of it. Take this quick quiz to find out which mythical creature you really are on the inside- a vampire or a werewolf!

Question 1

Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?

First thing's first: are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? Even though way more than this goes into determining whether you are a vampire or a werewolf, the basics still need to be covered, and depending on your preference for either Edward or Jacob, it will help us know which creature you are most like.

Question 2

What is your coloring?

One of the main differences between Twilight's werewolves and vampires is their coloring. The wolves all have dark features, dark eyes, and very dark hair. For the most part, their skin tone is tan. The vampires, on the other hand, are the exact opposite. Even though some of them have dark hair, their skin is almost ghostly.

Question 3

What color are your eyes?

One of the very obvious traits of a vampire is the unnatural color of their eyes. The Cullen family and other vampires have various and distinct brightly-colored eyes, from red to green to icy blue. The werewolves tend to have more naturally-colored eyes that are typically brown.

Question 4

Are you typically warm or cold?

While vampires are known for having skin that is very cold to the touch (something Bella notices early on with Edward), werewolves are the opposite. They tend to be very warm and give off lots of body heat. In Eclipse, despite his rivalry with Jacob, Edward allows him to carry Bella and even to sleep next to her in order to keep her body temperature up.

Question 5

If you could, would you want to live forever?

This is a tough question, because on one hand, living forever would be pretty cool, and the fear of death would be eliminated. On the other hand, living forever would mean eventually watching everyone you know and love die, and you would have to move every few years so that people would not catch on when you don't age. Vampires are immortal (with a few exceptions), and werewolves are not.

Question 6

Do you have abs?

Abs are something that werewolves are known to have, and Taylor Lautner (who plays werewolf Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga) definitely has them! Vampires are known to be strong, but when it comes to appearance, werewolves are more obviously strong because they have certain physical traits, such as the glaringly obvious abs, that make that very clear.

Question 7

Are you a day or a night person?

Both vampires and werewolves have a certain appreciation for the night. Werewolves transform by the light of the full moon, and vampires cannot go out in the bright sunlight or they will burn up (variations of this rule exist). For this reason, they prefer the night. Which do you prefer, the light or the dark?

Question 8

Do you prefer to bite or suck on your candy?

Say you have a lollipop or some other kind of candy; do you usually bite right into it or take your time and suck it? I realize this sounds very dirty, but this is a serious question about candy and nothing else. Since vampires suck blood and werewolves bite flesh, knowing how you like to eat your candy will help us determine if you are more like one than the other.

Question 9

Do you eat meat?

Both vampires and werewolves eat meat, obviously. Both are carnivores and hunters. However, in the world of Twilight, the Cullen family of vampires consider themselves "vegetarians", meaning they only eat animals, not humans. The werewolves hunt for animals, as well, and that makes up most of their diet.

Question 10

Choose a movie.

Throughout the years, there have been so many movies and television shows made about mythical creatures, like Bigfoot in Harry and the Hendersons. But much more popular than Bigfoot are vampires and werewolves. Choose which vampire/werewolf movie you would rather watch: the classic film Dracula, or Teen Wolf (which also later became a television series).

Question 11

Where would you rather travel to?

Below are a list of potential vacation or tourist destinations, and which you would choose, given the chance, could be indicative of whether you are a vampire or a werewolf. Obviously, the country of Romania (and specifically, the city of Transylvania) is known for Dracula. In Twilight, the Volturi live in Italy. Werewolves have ties to many countries in Europe and Asia, and legends place them all over the map. But Germany and Turkey in particular have many werewolf legends.

Question 12

Choose a favorite Twilight scene.

The love triangle between Bella and her two inhuman creature boyfriends, Edward and Jacob, is central to the plot of The Twilight Saga. For most of it, especially at the beginning and the end, Bella is with Edward. She is always head over heels for him, but there is a time when he has left, and Jacob is there for Bella instead. She loves them both, but in different ways. Which scene do you like best?

Question 13

Which book/movie do you like better?

New Moon is the second book/movie in the series, and in it, Edward has left Forks, and left Bella. She is very depressed, and turns to Jacob. In this book/movie, much more attention is given to Bella and Jacob's relationship than hers with Edward. But in Breaking Dawn (one book that was split into two movies), it is all about Bella and Edward.

Question 14

Who is your dream girl?

Jacob has always been in love with Bella, and tries to win her heart throughout four books and five movies. But in the end, he imprints on Bella and Edward's daughter, Renesmee. She is just a baby when this happens, but when she is all grown up, they are together. It is a cool idea, but kind of creepy because he was in love with Renesmee's mother first, and fell for her as an infant. Still, both are beautiful women. So which is your cup of tea?

Question 15

Pick a hobby.

Music and surfing could not be more opposite from each other, but Bella's two love interests are polar opposites, so it makes sense. The refined Edward enjoys classical piano music, while Jacob enjoys surfing. Bella takes part in both activities at one point or another, but which would you choose to spend an afternoon doing?

Question 16

Choose a hairstyle.

One of the many differences between Jacob and Edward is their hairstyles. Both have great hair, but Jacob (at least in the beginning of the saga) wears his hair long, like the traditional Native Americans do. Edward wears his hair shorter, gelled, and spiky. Both styles look good on the guys, so it all comes down to personal preference.

Question 17

Which gift would you give to Bella?

In general, vampires are more refined than werewolves, and there is nothing wrong with that. Jacob gives thoughtful, heartfelt gifts to Bella, such as the dreamcatcher because she is having bad dreams, and the bracelet with a wolf charm on it. Edward has a more expensive taste. He presents her with diamonds (although, to be fair, it was his grandmother's ring), and he even buys her a private island for their honeymoon!

Question 18

Which ability would you most like to have?

Being a mythical creature comes with all sorts of perks. Combined, vampires and werewolves have countless special abilities, including (but not limited to) speed, strength, agility, telepathy, healing powers, immortality, etc. Which of the following abilities would you most like to have?

Question 19

Are you a dog person?

Werewolves are pretty much just big dogs, so if you are not a big fan of dogs, that could be a sign that you are definitely not a werewolf. The vampires in Twilight actually hate dogs, and make snide comments throughout the series about them. Do you like dogs?

Question 20

Are you gruff or mysterious?

These two adjectives obviously describe very different qualities about a person. When you hear "gruff", you probably think of someone who is rough around the edges and tough. When you hear "mysterious", you probably think of something enchanting or appealing. Out of these two very specific descriptions, which best fits you?

Question 21

Are you seductive?

Vampires have long been described as being seductive, with their bewitching eyes and mysterious allure. And Edward definitely seduced Bella in Twilight. I don't know if anyone would describe werewolves as seductive, although they are definitely sexy in their own way. So are you seductive, or not?

Question 22

If you were Bella, who would you want protecting you?

In the Twilight Saga, Bella is pursued by bad vampires who want to kill her. This is not a problem once she becomes a vampire herself, and can protect herself. But before that, it is up to Edward, the Cullens, Jacob, and the wolf pack to make sure she is safe. If you were her, who would you trust with your life?

Question 23

What would you rather be for Halloween?

Here is a very straightforward question for you: between a vampire and a werewolf, which would you rather dress up as for Halloween? Obviously, whichever you choose is likely what you are deep down and your answer to this quiz, but you never know. Sometimes we do not know ourselves as well as we think.

Question 24

How do you see Bella?

As the main character in the books and movies, Bella Swan gets a lot of attention. But everyone seems to see her a little bit differently. Both Edward and Jacob love Bella in their own ways. In your opinion, is the object of their affection the damsel-in-distress type, or is do you see her as a strong, independent woman?

Question 25

Pick a house to live in.

Edward, a vampire, lives in this stunning house deep in the forest, where he and his family can hunt animals and have their privacy. It is a sleek, modern home with lots of windows. But perhaps your style is closer to the home Jacob, a werewolf, lives in. He resides in a rustic but cozy red cabin, also in the woods. Which is more your style?

Question 26

Do you prefer silver or gold?

This may seem like a random or silly question to ask on a quiz about vampires and werewolves. But actually, if you know anything about these creatures, you might know that silver can be lethal to werewolves. It is their kryptonite, so to speak, and one of the only ways they can be killed. Some say it is the only way they can be killed. If you are more like a werewolf than a vampire, you would definitely prefer gold over silver. This silver ring was given to Bella by her husband.

Question 27

Describe your parents.

If you come from a family of werewolves, your parents are probably fiercely loyal and protective. And if they are anything like Jacob's father, they are a bit on the geeky side, but have good intentions. If you come from a family of vampires, then your family is self-made, the way Carlisle "made" his family by turning them into vampires as needed. They are also generally more refined with their tastes, and more serious.

Question 28

What is your best quality?

Both Edward and Jacob have multiple good qualities about them that probably make it easy for Bella (and all the Twilight fans) to fall in love with them. Certain qualities are more specific to werewolves over vampires, so which of the following is your best quality?

Question 29

Choose a group.

There are many different families and groups within the Twilight Saga. There are no combined groups of vampires and werewolves, and in fact, Bella is the only non-werewolf or non-vampire to be a part of their daily lives. Eventually, she joins the Olympic Coven along with the rest of the Cullen family.

Question 30

Do you like change?

One thing about being a vampire is that since you are immortal, you will have to relocate every few years for the rest of eternity so that no one starts to notice that you are not aging. This would be ok if you are a person who likes change, but if you prefer to live your life mostly in one area, and put down roots, you would make a better werewolf, as they do not live forever and can stay put.

Question 31

How old are you?

Vampires, who live forever except in extenuating circumstances, are usually very old. Edward actually lost his human life during the Spanish Influenza of 1918, and since Twilight takes place in the present day, you can do the math. He is pretty darn old. Jacob, on the other hand, is a werewolf and is the same age he would be if he were human.

Question 32

Do you believe that strange things happen during a full moon?

Many people are quick to dismiss the idea that strange things happen on the night of a full moon, but others swear that they do. For example, many nurses swear that there is a spike in babies being born when the moon is full. And of course, there is the legend of werewolves transforming under the full moon. Do you believe there is something to it, or is it all a bunch of hocus pocus?

Question 33

How well do you follow orders?

How well you follow orders is an important thing to consider when determining if you are a vampire or a werewolf. Remember, Jacob had to take orders from the leader of his wolf pack, Sam Uley. He did not always like it, but he had to learn to deal with it. Edward, on the other hand, as well as most vampires, seem to be able to just do their own thing.

Question 34

To avoid certain death, would you allow a vampire to change you?

If you were about to die for whatever reason (car accident, illness, anything), and you were presented the opportunity to be changed into a vampire, would you do it? It would be an agonizing decision, one that would be made doubly hard on your death bed. But if you had moments to choose between living forever and dying right now, what would you choose?

Question 35

Who would you rather have as a sister?

Jacob has no siblings of his own, but his fellow wolf pack members are as close as any siblings could be, and Jacob even likens Leah Clearwater to a sister. Edward has four siblings, two brothers and two sisters. Between Leah and Rosalie, who would you rather have as a sister?
