Are You A Real Foodie? Pick Your Favorite Foods To Find Out

1.1K Shares

With the proliferation of social media, restaurants are stepping up their food marketing game. Now food has to be aesthetically pleasing and the establishment might even have their own Instagram. However, if you're a real foodie you'll know it's more about the ingredients than the aesthetics. You make eating an experience, it is more important to you to search out something new or to develop a new flavour than it is to nourish yourself. Foodies also know it is often the mom and pop hole-in-the-wall places where you will be served your best eats. These establishments may not have a regal atmosphere but the food will often be better prepared using recipes that have been tweaked and honed through generations.

Most people have a different experience of good cooking and we all have different tastes. There are still universals that come into play when judging dishes though. Ensuring that the meat is well marinated or slow cooked, we all have cooking tricks up our sleeves, like adding a cinnamon stick to curry, or peeling ginger root with the back of a spoon. A truly refined palate can tell store bought whipped cream from some made fresh in the kitchen.

So, are you a gourmand?
