Created by Akira Toriyama, “Dragon Ball Z” is the second installment of the “Dragon Ball” series. Originally a manga published in 1988, the series would become an international sensation by the late 1990s. The story follows the life of Goku as he defends Earth from various villains. Spanning across several platforms, it’s one of the most recognizable entertainment products today. With countless spinoff movies, reading material, and video games, we don’t see this franchise ending anytime soon.
Today, the franchise is in the midst of a sequel called “Dragon Ball Super” and has brought new fans to the product. With fans spanning from different generations across the world, we decided to create a quiz to see if you know your history. This quiz is all about “Dragon Ball Z,” which takes place five years after the end of “Dragon Ball.”
Goku is a father and the world is about get a lot bigger as villains from all across the universe want to destroy Earth. Good Luck.
Nappa Was The First Saiyan Goku Encountered?
For those that didn’t know, Goku is actually an alien and not from Earth. Natural warriors, the Saiyans were a powerful race living on their home world Planet Sadla. Frieza thought the Saiyans would eventually become a threat to his empire and decided to get rid of them once and for all. Goku originally was supposed to conquer Earth, however, his memory is altered and becomes the planet’s greatest hero. In Dragon Ball Z, Goku would encounter another Saiyan for the first time, was it Nappa?
Gohan Kills Raditz?
Raditz is the biological brother of Goku. After Frieza decided to eliminate all Saiyans, he allegedly spared just four, including Raditz. When Raditz found out his brother was on Earth, he decided he would visit to convince him to conquer other worlds and galaxies. The plan didn’t turn out the way he wanted to and ended up fighting his sibling to the death. Goku would receive help from Piccolo and his son, Gohan. Raditz would end up being defeated but do you remember who killed him?
Yamcha Becomes A Professional Baseball Player?
Yamcha would be part of “Dragon Ball” as well as “Dragon Ball Z.” He is one of the strongest martial artists on the planet and was originally an enemy of Goku. He has courage, is caring, and can take a punch or two. Whenever troubled brewed, you can count of Yamcha to help. Not only was he helping Goku defeat his enemies, Yamcha also was a professional athlete at one point. He would have to hide his incredible strength of course, but that didn’t always work out.
Goku Turns Into A Super Saiyan For The First Time On Namek?
Goku always had a challenge, whether it as King Piccolo or Vegeta, he usually was pushed to his limits but prevailed. Frieza would become the first villain that truly was stronger than Goku. So strong, Goku was helpless when Frieza would kill his best friend Krillin. In an epic showdown, Frieza and Goku would battle for the fate of earth on Namek. It would the hardest test Goku had ever faced. By the end of the fight, both warriors were maxed out in strength. Do you remember if Goku would turn Super Saiyan fighting Frieza?
Goku Arrives On King Kai’s Planet After Dying?
Known as North Kai’s Planet, this place is located in the Other World. As ruler of the North Galaxy, King Kai shares his home with his loveable pets. Goku would train on this planet a lot, so much, you can argue it’s his second home in “Dragon Ball Z.” The gravity on this planet is ten times stronger than on Earth, giving Goku a much-needed boost in his training. Not only would Goku visit this planet but so would other awesome characters of the series.
Goku Kills All The Members Of The Ginyu Force?
The Ginyu Force that went to Namek was made up of five warriors. These five included Ginyu, Guldo, Recoome, Burter, and Jeice. They each had unique abilities and powers that stifled Goku and friends. Not only did they have unique abilities they also had team attacks not seen before in the DBZ Universe. Goku wouldn’t be the only one to fight these warriors but also Vegeta as well, setting up some epic battles. In the end, the Ginyu Force would fail which made Frieza very unhappy.
Goku Gets To King Kai’s Planet By Walking Through Dragon Way?
After Goku sacrificed himself so Raditz would be killed, his body was then transferred to the Other World by Kami. Goku would then allowed to be trained by King Kai but there was one hitch. He would have to travel to him on a path that could end up being horrible for Goku. This long and narrow path had a lot of hardships along the way but Goku would eventually prevail. He would end up on King Kai’s planet but do you remember what the path was called?
Goku Catches Butters The Frog On King Kai’s Planet?
We mentioned King Kai has some loveable pets on his planet. One of these pets would become a training prop for Goku. Endurance is the reason why King Kai makes Goku use this animal for training. The test seems easy for Goku in the beginning but it starts to become more and more difficult for our hero. Goku would spend 40 days with this animal before catching finally catching him. It wouldn’t be the last time this training exercise was used.
Frieza Kills Dende, Vegeta, And Krillin?
Frieza would become the Emperor of the Universe because of his imperial army and the massive amount of power he wields. As the son of King Cold, Frieza was born to rule with an iron fist. Not only was Frieza a match for Goku, he also has the ability to transform into different forms. His wicked ways led to the deaths of several characters in the series. Will give you one hint, one of these characters was the best friend of Goku.
Cell Was Created By Dr. Gero?
"You see, I'm perfect, my strength is perfect, and with that, I shall bring equally perfect destruction through the rest of the universe," said Cell. He was the perfect warrior because his genetics was made up of the best fighters that either lived on Earth or visited the planet. Not only can Cell throw a punch, he also can absorb the powers of all life forms by swallowing them with his tail. People thought Frieza was powerful until Cell arrived in DBZ.
Android 18 Was The First Android Goku Battled?
Artificial Human No. 18, or Android 18, burst onto the scene during the Cell Saga. As the twin sister of Android 17, she was a villain but also questioned her environment and who she was. Her beauty and humanlike features made her a deadly foe and thankfully she became a Z Fighter after the Cell Saga. Not only has she become a hero but also the wife of the loveable Krillin. We all know who wears the pants in that relationship.
Vegeta Kills Nappa?
Vegeta and Nappa are some of the few Saiyans Frieza sparred when wiping out their species. They would become a huge asset for Frieza's empire by destroying or taking over other worlds. After finding out that Raditz was eliminated on Earth, the two decided to go visit the place for themselves. When they did show up, they weren’t expecting the Z Fighters to stop their path of destruction. The two would battle the Z Fighters and Goku but did Vegeta eventually kill Nappa?
Piccolo Survives The Battle Against Nappa And Vegeta?
The Namek, Piccolo, pretty much has the exact opposite characteristics traits of Goku. While Goku is brash, impatient, and always acting before thinking, Piccolo is calm, cool, and collective. The two make quite the pairing, especially when it comes to strategizing for a battle. His is the final reincarnation of the Demon King Piccolo and would later fuse with Kami to become the Nameless Namekian. The Grand Elder allegedly claims Piccolo is part of the Dragon Clan, the original creators of the Dragon Balls.
Gohan, Krillin and Bulma Decide To Go To Namek To Seek Out The Namekian Dragon Balls?
After the battle between Vegeta and the heroes of Earth, a couple of our favorite fighters were killed. A certain group of characters decided they would bring them back to life by using the dragon balls. Their journey would take them to the planet Namek. The planet belongs to the ternary star system within Universe 7 and is a pivotal location in the series. The planet would eventually explode due to a deadly battle between our hero Goku and the nefarious Frieza.
Vegeta Fights Zarbon After Stealing Frieza’s Dragon Balls?
Vegeta doesn’t get along with others well. After arriving on Namek, he decides he would collect the dragon balls for himself. There was just one big problem and that was somebody trying to stop him. Zarbon is one of Frieza’s best warriors. Cunning, intelligent, and resourceful are few a words to describe Zarbon. Although he has handsome reptilian features, don’t be fooled because Zarbon can transform into a monstrous man. Do you remember if Zarbon and Vegeta fought over the dragon balls?
Vegeta And Bulma Have A Child Named Trunks?
Vegeta’s inner conflict is one of the best things DBZ ever produced. As a Prince and proud Saiyan, Vegeta had a huge dilemma with Frieza. He didn’t like that his species was basically wiped out and eventually decided to defend Earth after patching things up with Goku. Arrogant and hard headed on the exterior, Vegeta can be somewhat of a mush on the inside. It has been a beautiful thing to see him go from villain to anti-hero, to hero on DBZ.
Goku And Vegeta Fuse Into Vegito?
As we mentioned in the last question, Goku and Vegeta had to fuse in order to match the power of Majin Buu. Fusion is when two or more beings merge with each other. The fusion combines their abilities and strengths, creating a powerful energy level. DBZ is no stranger to fusion and there are several different ways to go about it. Kibito and Supreme Kai used the Potara Fusion, Piccolo fused with Nail, and we know about Trunks and Goten performing the Fusion Dance.
The Ginyu Force Was Led By Mr. Popo?
Just because you’re a powerful warlord with an empire stretching across several galaxies doesn’t mean you don’t have mercenaries to do your bidding. While Goku has his friends, the Z Fighters, Frieza has his mercenaries, the Ginyu Force. Known as the greatest warriors of Frieza's army, the Ginyu Force would be assigned to Namek after Zarbon failed in collecting all the dragon balls. This force has a wild entrance which is still talked about today. The group proved to be a force for a moment but still couldn’t overcome Goku.
Cell Announces The Cell Games?
Cell thought he was the perfect weapon and welcomed any challenger who didn’t agree with him. His determination to convince everyone he was the perfect creation would lead to him murdering a ton of people. Not only could he absorb powers but also transform into stronger incarnations of himself. When you possess the abilities of the strongest fighters in the universe, wouldn’t you want to test out your powers? Cell decided to test his and made a contest out of it. Do you remember what that contest was called?
Captain Ginyu Would Transfer His Mind Into A Bird?
“The purpose of striking a pose is not to become like wallpaper. That's why we chant loudly when we pose, to draw attention to our magnificence. I know. I'll just have to raise the stakes a little bit. The best poser gets a candy,” said Captain Ginyu. Not only can Captain Ginyu strike a pose he can also switch bodies with another lifeform. While trying to switch bodies with a powerful being he accidentally switches with which animal on Namek?
Future Gohan Arrives On Earth To Warn Goku About Cell?
After the battle with Frieza was over, our heroes got a small break before the next big threat would hit earth. This threat would actually come from the future but no one would know that until another character would come from the future to warn them. This warning would set up an epic storyline involving a whole bunch of new characters, including the infamous Cell. Anything can happen in “Dragon Ball Z,” including time travel. Do you remember which character would warn our heroes about Cell?
Future Trunk Gives Goku Heart Medicine For A Heart Virus That Kills Him In The Future?
When Future Trunks arrived on present Earth, he warned Goku of the arrival of Cell. One of the big questions that which was asked was why didn’t Goku defeat him in the future. The answer to that question will help you out with the one in front of you now. Future Trunks did help Goku with his health but do you remember what the reason was? It was a very specific reason on the show and a no brainer if you remember the series.
Goku Defeats Cell?
With the genetics of Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Frieza, Cell became a powerhouse opponent for Goku and the Z Fighters. Not only does Cell have the muscle but also brains to outsmart the best. There could be only one guy that could take on Cell, right? Cell would defeat a lot of our heroes, including Piccolo, Vegeta, and Future Trunks. Fans would get their hopes up that Goku could defeat Cell once and for all. Do you remember if Goku was the one that defeated the powerful Cell?
Android 17 Kills Dr. Gero?
Just like his twin sister, Android 18, Android 17 also questioned his environment and purpose in life. As a calm character, you rarely saw this Android get emotional. Dr. Gero was the one who created the Androids and thought he could become one of the most powerful men in the world. As a powerful weapon, Android 18 has a wide variety of abilities including Finger Beam, Kiai, and never becoming tired. Did the cold-hearted Dr. Gero get destroyed by his own creation?
Dr. Gero Only Created Two Androids?
Also known as Android 20, Dr. Gero is the reason why Goku and the Z Fighters had to deal with Cell. Not only Cell but other androids as well. This caused quite the pickle for Goku but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Once the head scientist of the Red Ribbon Army, he would have a bone to pick with Goku because our hero destroyed his precious army. He would spend years in the shadows creating the ultimate weapons to defeat Goku
Vegeta Sacrifices His Life In Trying To Stop Majin Buu?
Vegeta has come a long way since his first appearance in the series. He once was a heartless villain that didn’t care for anyone’s life. Things would change for the sociopath and would see the good side in things. No longer looking to destroy life, Vegeta’s one goal in life was to become stronger than Goku. Having a family along the way also softened him up and the next thing you knew he was defending Earth with the rest of the Z-Fighters.
Vegeta Uses The Hyperbolic Wave Chamber To Surpass Super Saiyan?
There are tons of ways to get stronger in DBZ. You can die and train on King Kai’s planet, you can fuse with another living being, or you can do it the old fashion way and train. Goku always wants to get stronger but he isn’t the only one. You can argue Vegeta loves training the most due to his intense determination to surpass Goku in strength. There was a way for many of our heroes to train that would increase their strength dramatically and Vegeta took full advantage of this.
Gohan’s Superhero Persona Is Named The Great Saiyaman?
After Cell was defeated our heroes would get another break before a new villain would threaten the planet. Years would pass and Gohan would be in high school when he decides to become a vigilante. Can you blame him? Gohan has all this power and needed to unleash it out on someone. Although Gohan took out amateur criminals he enjoyed the job he was doing. He would begin to call himself a certain name, do you remember what it is?
Dabura Tries To Resurrect Frieza?
You have to be an evil person is you're the king of the Demon Realm. Thousands of years old, Dabura would succumb to Babidi’s mind control and do his bidding. With his red skin, large ears, and horns, there is no doubt he’s supposed to look like Satan. Dabura would be a key villain in awakening Majin Buu, one of the most powerful villains in DBZ. Dabura is an evil man but also very sophisticated and became quite the rival of the Z-Fighters.
Majin Buu Kills Babidi?
"Their lives will become a cesspool in which foul things breed; darkness will be their light,” said Babidi. A powerful wizard named Bibidi would split into forms, one of these forms was the evil Babidi. When Bibidi died, Babidi would become very strong. One of the evilest people to ever be introduced in DBZ, Babidi would kill his own servants once their purpose was done. This wizard would be the reason why Majin Buu was awakened. Did Babidi’s own plan become his downfall?
Goten And Trunks fusion Into Tenksgo?
It’s awesome to watch the rivalry between Goku and Vegeta on DBZ and what better way to continue that rivalry through their sons. Goten and Trunks are around the same age and are at the same power level in DBZ. Both fathers noticed how strong their sons were and pushed their limits to extreme measures. Eventually, the two sons could fuse with each other and did so to battle Majin Buu. When they did fuse, they called themselves a particular name, do you remember the name?
Majinn Buu Splits Into An Evil And Good Buu?
The Majin Buu Saga would be the last of the DBZ series. He may look pink but don’t be confused, he isn’t going to give you any hugs. Creator Akira Toriyama would name him after the song “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” in Walt Disney’s movie “Cinderella.” The wizard Bibbidi would create Majin Buu for the sole purpose of killing life. He was so deadly, Bibbidi had to seal him but decided to unleash his powers once again during DBZ. Majin Buu has transformed like others but can you remember if there was a split between good versus evil?
Super Buu Spares The People Of Earth?
Super Buu came about when Evil Buu ate Good Buu in the form of a piece of chocolate. Buu would become more powerful than ever before. Anger, insanity, and impatience are just some of the characteristics to describe this form. Buu has so much power he can split tear through dimensions by using Vice Shout. Goku and Vegeta would have to fuse together to defeat this version of Buu but it wasn’t enough. Did Buu eventually come to his senses or did he decide to destroy Earth?
Goku Destorys Buu With The Super Spirit Bomb?
DBZ is one wild tale and at one point in the series, our heroes found themselves inside Super Buu’s head literally. After escaping Buu’s body, Majin Buu would revert back to Kid Buu and blow up Earth. Goku and Vegeta would lead him to another planet where they would battle one last time. Buu would be defeated by our heroes and Earth would be resurrected giving fans a happy end. Do you remember how Kid Buu was defeated?
Kid Buu Is Reincarnated Into Uub?
This character would make his debut at the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament, ten years after the Majin Buu Saga. Not only is he a tough fighter, the child also has a heart as he wants to win the contest to help his village. Goku instantly noticed his talents and the two would have a draw in the tournament. The final scene of DBA would be Goku and this character leaving the tournament to go train. Is he the reincarnations of Kid Buu?
