Any True Pokemon Fan Should Be Able To Name These Original Pokemon

We know that every true Pokemon fan was ready on the couch for their favourite TV show to come on, whether it was weeknights or weekends. We know they probably rented the episodes at Blockbusters a few times over until they memorized the theme song word for word. They might have even printed stickers of their Pokemon from the Pokemon Stadium photo booth kiosk at that same Blockbusters.

First Generation Pokemon (or Colour Generation) was the time to be alive. Whether you watched Ash make his way through all the gym leaders on television, or you tore it up from Pewter City to Viridian City yourself, we all loved the classic, memorable parade of Pokemon that captured our hearts and battled for glory. If you remember the first Pokemon movie in theaters, the complementary shiny mew card that came with its viewing, and the amazing unveiling of golden Pokemon cards at Burger King, then this quiz is for you.

Whether you played Pokemon Stadium on the Nintendo 64, collected the cards in those sweet plastic collectors books, or you went hard on Game-boy, we’re talking about you, Poke-fans. We know only true Pokemon Masters will be able to name all these original Pokemon.

This adorable little green worm is mostly found in the Viridian Forest and on route 25. With his huge yees, adorable ink antenna and cute little snout he might just be one of the cutest Pokemon around. We first see him in the anime episode “Pokemon Emergency!” and it is the first Pokemon that Ash catches in the wild. Don’t be fooled by his tiny size, this guy has some crazy moves such as Shield Dust which cancels out all status effects from other Pokemon. In Pokemon Red and Blue it can also be found as a rare or ‘shiny’ Pokemon in the colour red.

This Pokemon is small and yellow with a plated body and little claws for digging.These little guys like to spend most of their time in burrows underground. This little guys debuted in the episode “The Path to the Pokemon League”. When we meet him he is seemingly owned by a very aggressive trainer and enduring rigorous training techniques such as a whip and training pool, but he is still an incredibly loyal Pokemon. This Pokemon also makes an appearance in the episode “Pikachu’s PikaBoo” where Pikachu and a group of other Pokemon engage in a game of hide and seek.

This tiny little rodent is adorable with its giant ears and rat like front teeth. The spines on its back as well as its horn are supposed to be poisonous. Looking more like a mean gerbil than a Pokemon, we first see this little guy in the episode “Wherefore Art Thou Pokemon”. This little one is in love with another Pokemon and struggles due to the two’s inability to be together. In the manga this Pokemon was owned by the trainer Green, and appeared in the book “Just a Spearow Carrier”. This Pokemon is not actually seen in battle in the mange however until they evolve.

We first meet this water type Pokemon in the video game Pokemon Red and Blue. With his large size, even larger shell and built in cannons, he’s definitely a force to be reckoned with! In the anime we meet them during the episode ‘Beach Blank-Out’ featuring a poor Jigglypuff who has gotten themselves stuck inside another Pokemon and desperately needs assistance from Ash and his friends. This not-so-little turtle is one of Squirtle’s evolutionary forms, and the adorable power house packs a real punch. This little guy was given even more power in Pokemon X and Y with the addition of a new Mega Evolution.

This little monkey with his adorable pig snout is actually quite the trouble maker. With his tiny white ears and super fluffy looking body, Pokemon is anything but soft and cuddly.In his first appearance in the anime he steals Ash’s hat, and evolves shortly after. In the manga he first appears in the third chapter of “The Electric Tale of Pikachu” but he is quickly traded in exchange for a map. This fighting type Pokemon can be found mostly in mountain terrains. In the Pokedex is is regarded as quick to anger, and warns that this Pokemon can begin brawling at the slightest provocation.

Looking more like a boulder than a Pokemon, this dual Rock and Ground type Pokemon has a hard outer shell which it can shed once a year to grow in size. The Pokedex describes its shell as being “extremely hard” and being “able to withstand dynamic blasts without damage”. This guys first premieres in the anime during the episode The Bridge Bike Gang. In this episode the Pokemon defeats Ash’s Bulbasaur. This Pokemon also appears in the episode “Battle of the Badge” where it was defeated by Nidoking. In the manga we first see this Pokemon debut in “Drat That Dratini!”.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a ball of gas in the sky, no It’s this guy. This Gas and Poison type Pokemon is primarily defined by its ability to float and his comedic sense of humor. Its gaseous purple body is accompanied only by a pair of disembodied hands. Its debut appearance in the anime is during an episode where Ash actually befriends it. This Pokemon later leaves Ash in favor of the trainer Sabrina. This Pokemon is also seen in the episode “A Shipful of Shivers” where it is found guarding a trophy of his now deceased trainer.

We're sure this little guy probably looks familiar to you. With it’s big ears, rat like teeth, horn and poisonous spines, this guy’s first debut in the anime was in the episode “Wherefore Art Thou Pokemon” where it is stuck in a forbidden romance with another Pokemon. Looking more fierce than his name sake counterpart, this pink, spikey chinchilla has some hefty evolutions to look forward to. This little Pokemon lives mostly in open spaces such as Savannas and Plains where it uses its large ears and impeccable hearing to survive. This Pokemon first evolves in the anime after its ‘first kiss’.

The star of the show, this little guy is one of the most recognizable Pokemon in the whole Pokedex. Appearing in episode one of the anime and every single episode after, this Pokemon is a long loved fan favourite. The electric mouse really doesn't like Pokeballs but loves Ash. Often the desired victim for Team Rock, Ash continually fights the two bandits to keep his little friend safe. While this Pokemon can evolve, Ash’s really doesn’t want to. During the anime after meeting the trio of Eevee evolutions Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon Ash offers the stone required for this Pokemon to evolve, but isn’t successful.

Purple, fluffy, and with huge white antenna and little fangs, this Pokemon is both a Bug and Poison type. This Pokemon makes its first debut in “The Lost Laparas” owned by the trainer Tracey. In the manga this Pokemon makes its appearance in “Wake Up - You’re Snorelax!” as a wild, unowned Pokemon. The Pokedex describes this Pokemon as living “in the shadows of tall trees where it eats insects and is attracted by light at night”. This Pokemon’s eyes are actually made up of many tiny eyes which allows it to act more like a radars giving it great night vision.

This adorable little bulb is not to be messed with. The Grass and Poison blend Pokemon is ready for battle with ferocious attacks like Tackle, Leech Seed, and Solar Beam. The pink bulb on his back will grow in the sunlight until it begins to omit a sweet scent, at that point this little guys is ready to evolve. In the anime we first see this Pokemon in the episode “Bulbasaur’s Mysterious Garden”. When this Pokemon is a ‘shiny’/rare version the bulb will be yellow instead of pink, and the blue tone of his body will also appear more yellow.

One of the few Pokemon sporting a manchu mustache, this 3 fingered powerhouse is a Psychic type Pokemon has cute vertical waves on its abdomen and a star on its forehead. The creature was modeled after goats and foxes as these creatures are known to be tired to magic. This spoon bender can be found in the Cerulean Cave or on Route 8. The Pokedex describes this Pokemon as being able to cause headache just be being close by. We see this adorable little guy for the first time mid fight between the Saffron City gym leader Sabrina and Ash.

This starter Pokemon is the only Fire type option in the game. This friendly face grows up to be a temperamental teenager, but while he’s cute and adorable he is able to use abilities like Blaze and his hidden ability Solar Power. In the anime we first meet this Pokemon with Misty and Brock where they find him after he had been abandoned by his previous trainer. The Pokemon originally refused to leave the spot where its trainer left them, but once a storm picked up and his tail started to go out, Ash took the very sick Pokemon to the Pokemon Center.

This fighting type Pokemon debuts in the episode "The Punchy Pokemon" where he is stolen by Team Rocket from a man named Giant. Don’t worry, it all works out in the end. With his big eyes, seemingly no mouth, and ringed arms and legs, this Pokemon visually stands out from all the rest of the First Generation cast. In the manga we first see this Pokemon in “Danger: High Voltorb” where he is aboard the ship the S.S. Anne. In the Pokedex he see him described as “this nimble Pokémon launches lethal kicks from almost any position”. Definitely not one of the pokemon you’d want to get into a fight with.

Looking like the creature of Scottish folklore, this Water/Ice Pokemon is very unique as far as Pokemon go. It is not know to have evolved from any Pokemon nor does it evolve into anything either. The Pokemon simply grow larger with age. With it’s blue body, curly ears, and giant shell, this long necked sea creature is mostly used by Ash as a mode of transportation between islands. It debuted in the anime during “Holiday Hi-Jynx”. In the manga however we meet this Pokemon during “The Electric Tales of Pikachu” where Ash saves it from being tormented by a Krabby.

This Normal/Egg type Pokemon is seen many times throughout the show as well as during the Manga. This pink, oval Pokemon has 3 hairs on either side of its head and has a singular egg in their center pouch. Primarily seen as belonging to the Nurse Joys of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions, these Pokemon are typically shown with their nurse caps on, assisting and acting as resident healers. This Pokemon shares its egg with those that are hurt. Don’t let the long list of healing roles fool you though, this Pokemon is also a swift fighter on the battlefield, and some never tap into their healing potential. In the anime this Pokemon’s debut is in the episode “Pokemon Emergency!”.

This fish Pokemon looks very much like a combination of a Japanese Koi fish and a Betta fish, often referred to as a Fighting Fish. With its white fins, orange body, and long horn on top, this Water type Pokemon can actually learn some moves such as Lightning Rod, and Water Veil. This pokemon is the evolve form of the poutiest fish in the sea, giving even Jynx’s a run for its money. This Pokemon has its debut in “The Misty Mermaid” when Ash meets The Sensational Sisters. This Pokemon can be found on Route 23, Fuchsia City, and in the Cerulean Cave.

Big eyes, big personality, what’s not to love about this green little guy. This starter Pokemon is the only Grass and Poison type you get to choose at the start of the game. We first see this adorable green bulb in the anime in the first episode “Pokemon - I Choose You” where Ash sleeps in too late to be able to pick one of the traditional starter Pokemon. The tiny green Pokemon is reminiscent of a tiny bulldog with a large bulb on its back. This Pokemon was also one of the few species to be released for play in Super Smash Bros.

This Water type Pokemon is visually looks like someone mixed to a fish and a dog together. This blue, finned labrador debuts in the anime during the episode “The Battling Eevee Brothers” where we see this Pokemon belonging to the trainer Rainer. Incredible agile and playful, this pup is kind of the sea. In the manga we first see this Pokemon during “To Evolve Or Not To Evolve, That Is The Question”. The Pokedex tell us that this Pokemon not only enjoys clean, fresh water, but that the cells of its body closely resemble water molecules, meaning that this Pokemon can melt into water at will!

This is one bug you would not want to accidentally find in your home. This dual typed Bug and Flying Pokemon is an insect with two sharp blades for hands, and two ankelless feet. Reminiscent to a praying mantis, this green guy can learn some crazy moves like Swarm, or Technician. It’s debut episode is “Showdown At Dark”, but appears many times throughout the series. In the manage we first see this sharp bug in “Wake UP - You’re Snorlax!” while he belongs to the trainer The Bug Catcher. This Pokemon was also given an evolutionary form in Generation II, but has no pre-evolution.

This tiny turtle is read to bring the heat with its long curly tail, and yellow belly.This starter Pokemon is the only Water type Pokemon you can choose at the start. This adorable blue turtle with his tiny fingers has an innately cheerful expression and, typically walks on its two back legs. This little guy can learn abilities such as Torrent and Rain Dance. This Pokemon is unique in that over 87% of this population is male. The shell can be used defensively and also as a place to sleep. We first see this Pokemon in the anime during “Pokemon - I Choose You” but Ash is unable to pick this Pokemon as he sleeps in too late.

This little fish is one of the internet’s most beloved memes as well as being a fairly hilarious joke in the original Pokemon Red and Blue games. While he starts as one of the weakest and more useless Pokemon, this little guy evolves into one of the most powerful Pokemon if given faith, praise, and love. This red guy is most known for his ability ‘splash’. We first meet them in the anime during the episode “All Aboard The St Anne!”. Team Rocket’s James acquires his Pokemon during this episode as he is conned by a salesman into thinking that they are incredibly valuable.

Looking more like a dinosaur than a Pokemon,this neolithic looking Pokemon is dual Flying and Rock typed. While this Pokemon is said to come from Old Amber, it doesn’t have a pre-evolution, and isn’t given an evolution at all until many generations later. We first meet this Pokemon in the anime during the episode “Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon” where it chases off the other prehistoric Pokemon that are tormenting Ash and his friends. In the manga red obtains this Pokemon during “Holy Moltres” and names him Aero. He extensively uses him for aerial transport and combat. Ash too uses this guy for flight in the anime for speedy transportation.

This flower is anything but cute. It’s purple body carries thick, large, spotted petals and an open vent for spores and other poisons sit at the very top of its head. This Grass/Poison type Pokemon packs a mean punch with abilities such as Chlorophyll and Spore. This Pokemon is said to have the biggest petals in the world on its head, which are almost too heavy for the Pokemon to be able to support on its own. We first meet this Pokemon in the anime during the episode “Holy Matrimony”. In the manga we see this Pokemon when Brock presents it to The Sensational Sisters as a makeshift bouquet.

Giant green eyes, immaculate hair floof, and an adorable smile give this pokemon some serious awweh factor. This adorable pink ball is a Normal type Pokemon. The big eyed creature appears many times throughout out the series as a kind of jokester. Always with a microphone, it attempts to sing and finish its trademark song without the audience falling asleep. The audience however always fall fast asleep. It takes a marker to the faces of it’s unfortunate victims in its rage. We see this Pokemon in the manga during “Clefairy In Space” where it helps protect Ash and friends from a herd of wild Clefairy.

This beautiful yellow fox is a Fire type Pokemon. Beautiful long flowing tails are the hallmark of this beautiful creature. Don’t let its appearance fool you, this beauty can learn some powerful abilities like Flash Fire and a hidden ability called Drought. We first see this Pokemon in in the Cinnabar Island Gym, belonging to the gym leader Blaine. Its original debut was in the now banned episode S01E38. This gorgeous creature is also quite spiteful, with even the Pokedex warning that it is “Very smart and very vengeful. Grabbing one of its many tails could result in a 1000-year curse.”

This isn’t something you’ll find at an all you can eat. This Water type Pokemon is a lovable crustacean with some serious punch. With abilities such as Hyper Cutter, Shell Armour and even a hidden ability called Sheer Force, this little crab is one to have on your side. We first meet this guy in the episode “Round One - Begin!” During the first-round at the Indigo Plateau Conference. This Pokemon is shown many times as belonging to Team Rocket grunts in the manga. While this is a high HP Pokemon, the Pokedex advises that its size makes it “Unwieldy” to use.

This adorable Pokemon looks like a spiky seahorse with a bad attitude. This Pokemon is a Water type, and is the beefier version of a much more adorable face in the sea. With abilities like Poison Point and Sniper, this blue guy is a tough to be against. This Pokemon's debut was in the episode “Mewtwo Strikes Back”, however its main series debut was in “Round One - Begin!”. In the manga our first look at this Pokemon is while it attacks Bill as he makes his way through the Viridian Forest. When ‘shiny’ or rare this Pokemon will have a purple or pinkish hue to its body instead of the beige/tan accents.

Looking a lot like the bulls you see in Spain,this Normal type Pokemon is quite beefy. With it’s facial markings, horns, and three tails, this Pokemon loves to run in herds. While it has no known evolution it’s said to be a close companion to Miltank. In the anime this is the Pokemon that Ash catches an enormous amount of, and gives to professor Oak who kindly suggests he catch different Pokemon like Gary does. His debut is a now banned episode, S01E35. It was banned in multiple countries due the the use of guns, and general confusion as to how Ash even obtained the head of 30 Pokemon.

It’s not a statue, this humongous Pokemon is a Rock/Ground type, and originally had no evolution until Generation II. Standing a whopping 8.79 meters tall, with abilities like Rock Head and Sturdy, this Pokemon is sure to take out some serious HP points. We first meet this lovable boulder chain in the anime during episode “Showdown In Pewter City” when Brock uses him for battle. Later on this Pokemon is handed down to Brock’s little brother. We see a much scarier version of this Pokemon in the manga in “The Electric Tales of Pikachu” but it is still owned by Brock.

The second last Pokemon in Generation I is this crazy guy. The only Pokemon capable of actual conversation beyond repetitions of its name, this Psychic type Pokemon was originally released with no evolution. With a purple and grey toned body and prehensile hands, this oddly human-like Pokemon consistently wears a contemplative expression. While this Pokemon starred as the main character in the first movie, it debuted in the episodes “The Battle of the Badge” and was seen again in “Showdown at the Po-ke Corral”. This Pokemon was not seen in the manga until they released an paper adaptation of the first Pokemon movie.

Looking like a kangaroo on steroids, this clawed creature has some serious size on its side.This Normal type Pokemon is one of the few types of Pokemon that are 100% female. Known to be a parenting Pokemon, this dinosaur sized creature carries its babies in its pouch as it lives its life, and while it battles. We can’t tell you the name of the debut episodes and manga without giving away the answer, but during its first appearance in both we see a herd of these creatures protecting a small child named Tommy, who in turn tried to protect them as well.

Yellow cat like eyes and a yellow rattler stand out on this Poison type Pokemon. These guys are typically found in the Savanna and the Plains areas. This purple snake is Team Rocket’s Jessi’s near constant companion. It has abilities such as Intimidate and Unnerve, which it uses against its opponents. This Pokemon is loyal and loving, and it even evolved in episode “Dig Those Diglett!” just to make her happy. This adorable little guy has his debut in episode “Pokemon Emergency!”, but makes many more appearances after. This guy is actually one of the show’s main recurring character even after its evolution.

Ready for battle with his white gloved hands, this guy has eyes that could outdo many puppy-dog faced anime girls. This Water type Pokemon is an adorable swirl that can develop the hidden ability Swift Swim. We are first introduced to this Pokemon through Misty in both the anime and Manga. This Pokemon makes his appearance in the manga during “To Evolve Or Not To Evolve”. During this episode Misty expresses her wants to get a stone to evolve this Pokemon, but is unable to due to the price. Depending on whether or not you played Red or Blue your Pokedex would have had a different description of this Pokemon.

This Poison/Flying type Pokemon is a little blood thirsty. It has the incredible ability to drink over 10 ounces of the stuff (~300ml)! This Pokemon is capable of feeding so much that it reaches the point where it is even unable to fly. This Pokemon is dual typed Poison and Flying. This little guy can learn abilities like Inner Focus and Infiltrator. We first meet this Pokemon in the anime after it evolves in the episode “Hassle In The Castle”. The Pokemon belongs to Brock during this time. In the mange we meet them during “Adventuring The Stone, Pikachu”.

This adorable orange Pokemon is a Bug and Grass type. WHile his two eyes have no pupils, this Pokemon still has quite a personality. Reminiscent of a mushroom top with crab pincers, this little guy had his debut in the anime during “The Problem With Paras”. In this episode we see trainer Cassandra who is desperate for her Pokemon to evolve in order to aid her in her scientific research. In the manga however this Pokemon’s first appearance was in “Long Live The Nidoking!”. The Pokedex describes this Pokemon as having a “parasite mushroom’ that has ‘taken over its body’ and an affinity for damp places.

This yellow, bell shaped plant is a Grass and Poison type Pokemon. This little guy has a leaf on either side of his body which it uses to slice and dice his enemies. This Pokemon likes to disguise himself as a plant, and then cover its prey in poison. This Pokemon appears in the anime during the episode “Pokemon Scent-sation” under the ownership of Erika. The Pokedex describes this Pokemon as “Swallows anything that moves” and that its “prey is melted inside by strong acids”. When this Pokemon evolves it changes orientation so that it’s mouth is facing upwards, and also grows massively in size.

One of the many birds of the Poke universe, this Normal and Flying type Pokemon takes to the skies with abilities such as Keen Eye and Sniper. This brown body with beige tipped feathers has quite the wing span. We see this Pokemon during the first episode of the anime where it attacks Ash. Ash actually owns this Pokemon in the manga but he doesn't in the anime. In the episode titled “Play Misty For Me”, this Pokemon was nicknamed "Fearless". The Pokedex describes this bird as having large lush wings that allows it to keep itself afloat without ever having to land for rest.

This Normal type Pokemon is a small, purple rat. Often found in groups like real rodents, this Pokemon can learn abilities like Run Away, Guts and Hustle, making it quite the sneaky predator. This Pokemon had its debut in the anime in the episode “Pokemon - I Choose You” where it attempted to steal food from Ash. The Pokedex describes this Pokemon as “Bites anything when it attacks. Small and very quick” and mentions that it’s “common sight in many places”. In the show it tends to depict them as common rats and mice. If you played the Nintendo 64 you probably played a lot of minigames with this guy.

Stronger than a magnet, this 3 foot genderless Pokemon is an Electric type. This Pokemon is the result of 3 smaller Pokemon being brought together by a strong magnetic current. This trifecta of creatures has six U-shaped magnets as hands, seven screws, and three eyes. This Pokemon can learn abilities like Magnetic Pull, Sturdy, and the hidden ability Analytic. This Pokemon made its debut in the anime in “Sparks Fly For Magnemite”. Its debut in the manga is aboard the S.S. Anne during “Danger: High Voltorb” where it was one of Lt. Surge’s Pokemon who were ready to attack Red on arrival.

Small, squirmy, and happy to see you, this Normal type Pokemon can be anything you want it to be. In the Pokemon video games its used a lot for breeding Pokemon with certain traits and abilities, although some people use it as a viable Pokemon by itself. This purple blob is able to transform itself into another Pokemon during battle, but it never quite gets the face right. This little blob can learn abilities such as Limber and Imposter. In the Pokemon’s debut we are introduced to the Pokemon as a circus performer. In the manga this Pokemon is seen “The Electric Tales of Pikachu” with its trainer Duplica.

This Fire type Pokemon is a little ball of flames that looks like a combination of a dog and a cat. This Fire type Pokemon is one of the three possible Eevee evolutions that we see in Generation I that requires a specific stone to evolve. This Pokemon is able to learn abilities like Flash Fire and Guts. The Pokemon’s anime debut is during “The Battling Eevee Brothers” although it appears frequently throughout the anime after. During the manga its debut is during “Blame It On Eevee” which is during “The Electric Tales of Pikachu”. In both cases this Pokemon is introduced to Ash as an incentive or reason as to why he should evolve his Pikachu.

This Pokemon is one of the other few species with 100% female population. This Pokemon is a humanoid species that looks like a woman with its blond wig and large lips. This Pokemon is able to learn abilities like Oblivious, Forewarn, and its secret ability Dry Skin. Although this Pokemon is able to make human-like speech, it prefers to communicate with dance and movement. While naming the episode that this Pokemon had its debut in would give away the name, the episode was Christmas themed. Some of the abilities this Pokemon can learn are Insomnia, Forewarn, and its hidden ability is Hidden Focus. In the first episode we see this Pokemon, the townspeople are using this Pokemon to relieve their sleep problems, but the children are acting strange. In the manga we first see them in “The Coming of Slowpoke (Eventually)”.

Holding the coveted position of the game’s few legendary Pokemon, this guys flies through the air like a meteorite. The Pokemon is a dual Fire and Flying type. This beautiful, large bird has flames that come off its head, tail, and both wings. Some of the high powered abilities this Pokemon can learn are Pressure, and Flame Body. This Pokemon is first seen in the anime in episode “The Power Of One” when Lawrence III wanted to capture 3 of the legendary birds. This Pokemon is one of the few species that have made appearances in other games such as Super Smash Bros.

This Pokemon is one of the most adorable shells you’ve ever seen. It’s black body inside the shell make it look like a black pearl, with a giant pink tongue. Its large eyes stand out against it’s dark shell and give it an adorable expression. This lovable little clam is a Water type Pokemon who is tougher than he looks. This Pokemon has an affinity for the tails of Slowpokes which allows it to evolve symbiotically into a Slowbro. This Pokemon is first seen in the anime in “The Bridge Bike Gang” where it was sick and being treated by Nurse Joy.

With its large Cheshire smile, red eyes and plumb body, this dual type Ghost and Psychic Pokemon might bring you nightmares. Ash first meets this Pokemon in Lavender Town while on the hunt for other psychic Pokemon. This Pokemon’s first appearance however was a minor role in “Pokemon - I Choose You!” where it is shown fighting a Nidorino at the Colosseum on the the television. In the manga the first appearance of this Pokemon is in “Holy Moltres” where is belongs to one of the Team Rocket grunts.

If you were to cross a sparrow and a duck together, you’d probably get this guy.This dual type Normal and Flying type Pokemon is the star baton twirler of the show. While it has two wings, they seem to act as prehensile hands with the feathers acting as fingers, allowing this bird to perform his main talent. The Pokedex describes this bird as using “The sprig of green onions it holds is its weapon. It is used much like a metal sword”. The charismatic bird can be found by either trading a Spearow in Vermillion City or by walking around in the Vermillion City streets.

Tough as nails and probably tough as diamond, this Pokemon is a dual Ground and Rock type. The main visual characteristics of this Pokemon are its armor plated body and large horn. Somewhat like an armadillo and a pitbull mixed together, this guy is a very worthy opponent. With abilities like Lightning Rod, Rock Head, and its hidden ability Reckless this guy is no joke. This hard headed Pokemon was first seen during the episode “The Flame Pokemon A-thon”. However in the manga we first see this Pokemon in “Raging Rhydon” where it was defeated by Red’s Pikachu.
