It is 30 years into the future. Humanity is in a golden age of technological advancement. In this time of peace, we create robots with artificial intelligence called Omnics. We integrate them into our society, and start treating them as our fellow man.
Until they attack. The factories that build these Omnics start to produce lethal, hostile robots and turn against humanity. In the wake of this crises, the United Nations forms an international task force to combat the omnic threat and restore order: Overwatch.
With Gabriel Reyes and Jack Morrison leading the charge, they quickly destroy the omnic uprising, and save humanity from the brink of extinction. After the threat is ended, Overwatch maintain peace across the world for years to come.
3 decades after threat of the omnics, Overwatch has been disbanded, and corporations have taken over. Terrorism and fighting has broken out in parts of the globe, which sees the rise of new heroes, ready to take a stand, and bring peace back to the world.
