However, anybody can put together a quiz. We want to put together an ultimate quiz for you, to really test your skills. What Is The Name Of The Cafe The Friends Always Meet At?
Yes, we are starting you off easy here, so don't go thinking that all of the questions are going to be this easy! Honestly, did you really think that we would let you off like that?! Let's also say that if you can't get this one right to start with, it's probably time you admitted that you really aren't a proper Friends fan. This should be the first thing that comes to your head whenever you think of the iconic show!
Can You Name This Character?
Did anybody else find this character really annoying when they first started watching the show? Even when we sit down to watch the show now, we can't understand how anybody could enjoy watching this woman whine her way through her life, expecting everyone else to do things for her. She's the worst kind of human in a lot of ways, somebody that we would never consider a friend in real life. If you've got a friend like this, drop them.
Can You Name This Character?
Look, we all have that one friend who doesn't fully fit in but that you get on with because fundamentally, they're a kind and loving person. Something that you learn as you get older is that you don't have to have everything in common with someone for the two of you to get on and create a lasting friendship. This woman is a perfect example of how this works as an adult, that you start to find things that matter to you more than common interests.
Can You Name This Character?
There was a period of time where it seemed like every sitcom decided they needed a character like this, someone that the audience could laugh at for being creepy and pathetic. If we're being honest, we always found it pretty sad whenever this guy was thrown out onto the screen so we could all laugh at him. It always made us feel sad for him, made us feel cold towards the realities of growing up without people who truly understand you.
Can You Name This Character?
There was a big thing recently about how young people who had never seen Friends were starting to watch it as it had been put on Netflix, and many of them had a problem with the writing. We want to say that we totally get where a lot of them were coming from, especially when it comes to this character, who did a lot of stuff that would seem pretty suspect if you saw it happen in real life. Pretty gross guy!
Can You Name This Character?
Including a wide variety of characters outside of the main cast was a way for the writers to ensure that the show never got stale, always bringing in opportunities to make new jokes from different perspectives. While there were certainly problems with the way that the show was written, for the time, we think it must have been pretty progressive when placed next to the other sitcoms that were bring created and written around that time. We know that isn't everything but it's definitely something.
Can You Name This Character?
We'll be honest and tell you that we're really not keen on this character, but we would also be lying if we said he didn't always find a way back into our good books when we were sick of him. There's something so pitiful about him, and yet you know that he's pretty much always trying to do the right thing. Of all the Friends, he's one of the most altruistic among them and spends a lot of time looking out for others.
Can You Name This Character?
While it's pretty obvious when you think about it, we think that the writers did a great job on creating a main cast that was relatable and believable, but that also brought all of their own personalities to the core concept. The world is made up of all types of people and any show that is attempting to replicate that needs to make sure that they come up with a set of characters that are different but make sense together.
Can You Name This Character?
It's funny to think that writers will spend hours creating a main cast in an attempt to have an audience properly latch on, in the hope that they will have a successful show, only to have a minor character come in and immediately steal focus. Obviously the writers will be happy if they manage to get people interested with any character, but we imagine they'd rather it was a character that will be onscreen a lot more than any of these minor characters.
Can You Name This Character?
We all remember a time in our youth when people would talk about which character they were from Friends, with each person in a friend group taking a look at who they were and which character it best aligned with. If we're being honest, we always hated it when people said we were like this guy, but as we got older, we actually started to take it as compliment. This man knows what it's like to be at the bottom, so he makes it a lot easier for those who find themselves there as well.
Can You Name This Character?
Towards the end of the show's run, it's no surprise that the writers started to throw in characters as much as possible, as they were probably hoping to get people hooked on ideas that they wouldn't have used back in the day. American television often does this, pushing shows to the limit where it's impossible for them to keep going. Some people love this as it gives them more of what they want, but we really hate it and wish it happened less.
Can You Name This Character?
Oh my god, did anybody hate the fact that this guy didn't get a longer run than many of the other characters on the show? Honestly, he had so much about him and so much to offer, and yet they wrote him off far too early for him to show it. We think it must have something to do with the fact that the actor had other commitments because otherwise he could've become a stable member for entire seasons if you ask us.
Can You Name This Character?
The whole narrative arc that takes place between Ross and this character is something that we still don't enjoy to this day, the whole thing seeming pretty unpleasant to us, especially when we watch it in a modern context. The thing about this sort of storyline is that you can get away with it if you try to make comments about it as you're making the audience laugh, but Friends didn't. They just played it for as many laughs as possible.
Can You Name This Character?
Can we talk about the way that American television seems to write characters from other countries with a huge list of stereotypes? Sure, the more progressive shows don't struggle with this, but if you look at comedy shows from the past few decades you very quickly start to see a routine that many American writers must have gone through when they decided to write in a character from another country. Why would you bother trying to smash stereotypes when you can reinforce them for easy laughs?!
Can You Name This Character?
We've already mentioned it briefly but we don't think even the true Friends fanatics out there wouldn't say that the show really started to go off the rails when they made it past the sixth season or so. It was like they just started to throw ideas at a wall to see what would stick before writing jokes around it. We know that they were getting older as characters and the show had to reflect that but it just felt jarring.
Can You Name This Character?
As we've already said, we don't think that many of the later characters that were added in as the show was dying were worth the effort, with only a couple here and there worth mentioning. However, it was completely the opposite when the show first started, with every character feeling like they had their own place in the show, as well as providing their own distinct laughs for the audience to enjoy. That is how you do good comedy writing.
Can You Name This Character?
If you're a proper fan of the show, then you don't even need us to start describing this woman to hear the nasally voice ringing through your head right now, along with her main catchphrase that she is still known for to this day. Crazy to think that something written so long ago can still be so engrained into your brain, as if it's something that you will never be able to forget. Pretty spooky actually when you start to think about it!
Can You Name This Character?
One of the things that we think the writers could've put a lot more thought into is who they ended up pairing the main cast off with, as it often felt like they didn't really put them with someone that fit. Sometimes this would actually be the dramatic conflict, which we have no problem with, but other times they just seemed to put two people together and not bother to explain what it was that they liked in each other.
Can You Name This Character?
The amount of beautiful women that television manages to throw onto our screens still manages to amaze us every single day, but it's not a fact about the entertainment industry that we enjoy, we have to say. We've said it before but we think it needs repeating if we're honest, so we're going to say it now. Nobody looks like this in real life! Where do they find these people?! If you're trying to be realistic, women like this are not realistic!
Can You Name This Character?
Look, we know that Jennifer Aniston is a beautiful woman, but some of the men that they had go out with Rachel just makes no sense to us. Her character is horrible and we don't believe that many of these men would've been with her just for her look. Honestly, she would've been attracting adults who are shallow, not people with actual personalities who have opinions on what is happening around them. These guys could genuinely be interesting, unlike Rachel.
Can You Name This Character?
Obviously we're not talking about Rachel here, so we're asking about the woman on the right. Many of the men and women that got caught up in the whirlwind that was Rachel and Ross definitely didn't deserve what they got, and if you saw it happen in real life, you'd almost certainly cringe at how absolutely brutal it was. They were just pulled in then spat out when they weren't needed! In a way, we think that Emily was right...
Can You Name This Character?
Taking a look at the concept of cheating on Friends was an interesting one, and a narrative arc that we think the writers actually handled really well. You could see Chandler becoming more and more enamoured by this woman, a woman that he could feel himself falling for despite the fact that his friend is with her. Then, he does the unthinkable and betrays his friend, something that he then dearly pays for. All of this and they still manage to make it funny!
Can You Name This Character?
Yet another character that helped highlight how pathetic Ross was as a character, someone who showed him up for being a paranoid man, a man that would rather have the woman he loves suffer than accept his own personality problems. The guy had his issues, likely brought over from feeling betrayed by his ex-wife, but that doesn't mean he can then place them on his current girlfriend. He needs to work through that stuff rather than make somebody else suffer.
Can You Name This Character?
The writers on Friends were always trying to come up with narrative arcs and storylines that specifically worked with the concept of a bunch of twenty-somethings just trying to figure out who they were, what they wanted to do and find somebody to love them while they were doing it. The choice to include a storyline about an older man fit right into this, and we actually think they did a great job with Richard as well. Chandler's paranoia about him got pretty old though.
Can You Name This Character?
Long before he ever appeared on the show, Rudd had actually been dating in real life, so we really hope that they ended on amicable terms, If they didn't, it must have been pretty awkward for the two of them to meet up on set and say hello, knowing the past that they shared together. On top of that, he's now got to pretend to be with one of your onscreen Friends, as if the whole situation wasn't weird enough already.
Can You Name This Character?
Look, we know that it's a stereotype and we would never want anybody out there to think that they deserve any sort of ridicule in the real world, but this character is one that we have all had to deal with at some point during our youth. Even if you weren't a particularly loud youth, you have definitely had that neighbor who bothered you about the noise that you were making and the fun that you were having without them.
Can You Name This Character?
This character, if you ask us, seemed to be added just to show how much of a horrible woman Rachel was, yet again choosing what she actually wanted over doing the right thing and expecting nobody to call her out for doing it. That's the sort of entitlement that you can only get from spending your entire youth being given exactly what you want while simultaneously being told that you deserve it as well. That is a toxic combination that a lot of people go through in the real world.
Can You Name This Character?
If you've never seen the bloopers for this show online, then we suggest that you find them on somewhere like YouTube and give them a look, because they're definitely worth the trouble. Like a lot of sitcoms, they just make the whole experience look like a real laugh, as if it was just six friends all messing about while getting paid an insane amount to do it. That, when you really think about it, is living the dream that we all want to live.
Can You Name This Character?
You thought we were going easy on you with the character name questions didn't you? Didn't think we were going to pull out people like this whose name you properly wouldn't even be able to remember if we were watching the show together right now! This woman, believe it or not, does have a name. She's the woman that works with Rachel for that horrible boss, the one that Chandler ends up sleeping with and never calling back despite the fact that he says he will. Ringing any bells?
Can You Name This Character?
Do you even remember who this woman is? If you don't, we can tell you that it's Chandler's mother, the one who ends up seducing Ross very early on in the show's run, but that is all the information we can give you! Honestly, looking at his parents, it's not that much of a surprise that Chandler turned out the way he did. It seems as if he became somewhat cynical to the world because of the people who brought him up.
Who Teaches Phoebe And Rachel About "Unagi?"
We would often enjoy when the writers on the show would pit the men against the women, highlighting the silly games that people will often play, even when they're old enough to know that their different gender doesn't actually mean anything. There's a friendly rivalry to it, something that we can certainly see has been reflected by us and our friends. We're not sure why it still happens, but then we don't often try and stop it from happening if we're honest!
Who Kisses Chandler On NYE?
The tradition of kissing someone on NYE has never really made sense to us, as it means that people are going to be upset when they inevitably don't get to kiss someone, while others will become paranoid and jealous if they don't get to kiss someone they're with, as if they're doing it on purpose to wind them up. Honestly, the whole thing just makes no sense to us if we're honest. We say band the tradition because it's gross anyway!
How Many Babies Does Phoebe Carry To Term For Her Brother?
Choosing to be a surrogate mother for someone is quite possibly one of the most selfless things you can choose to do for someone. You're literally putting your body through some serious stress and trauma so that they can have a child, something that they're not able to do on their own. Not only do you then have to carry it around with you for nine months, you have to deal with emotional fallout from giving the child away as well.
Why Does Carol Leave Ross?
Carol leaving Ross at the beginning of the show's run essentially informs everything about Ross' character if you ask us. So much of his personality and his neurosis is wrapped up in the fact that his first marriage failed, and it seems to follow him around for most of the show. It's as if he can't let go of this baggage that was put there by his first wife, while all the time pretending that there is no baggage to get rid of.
Who Is The Youngest Friend?
We bet that loads of you can't answer this one, that it will only be the true fans who can get this particular question right. The concept of age and ageing is something that the show's writer touch upon at various points throughout the ten series run of the show. When you think about it, it's one of the only things in this world that we can all understand and have to come to terms with as our time on this Earth passes.
Which Band Does The Gang Go To See For Ross' Birthday?
You can always tell whether the writers of shows have a good sense of music by looking at the sort of music that their characters listen to. You can tell whether they're just throwing in an edgy name to look cool as well, because they'll offer no other pieces of information to back it up. What we're saying is, most of the time, television writers go for what is popular and rubbish, rather than for what is actually good music.
How Many Siblings Does Chandler Have?
Is Chandler the classic example of an only child, or is he the kid who had to spend his entire youth stuck in the middle? Well, it looks like it's about time you remembered if you want to get the points for this one! We learn a lot about Chandler's past from Chandler himself, and if we're being honest, it sounds like he'd have a much happier life if he was able to shed the baggage that he is carrying around with him.
Why Does Ross Miss His Son's Birth?
While there are certainly problematic scenes between Ross and his ex-wife and her new lover, we often found while watching that the thing that bothered us most was how much he would whine about it. This is a woman who is coming to terms with who she truly is, grappling with her own personality and understanding of her self, a woman that he supposedly loves, and yet all he can do is think about how this is messing up his life.
What Does Phoebe Drop Off The Balcony When Scared By A Bird?
While the later seasons of the show really don't get much love from us, that doesn't change the fact that there were still little gems, small moments where the funny charm from the older episodes shone through what had become quite a stale formula by that point. One of those moments was when Phoebe rings up pretending to be the bird that scared her. How they managed to film that scene without constantly breaking into laughter is entirely beyond us.
What Is The Name Of Brad Pitt's Character?
It's no surprise that once the show had proven a hit, there was no end to the amount of guest appearances that the writers were able to put into the show, with some of them being real surprises during the early run of the series, In comparison, Pitt actually came in towards the later end of the run, but he still managed to make the episode if you ask us. He was absolutely brilliant in the show, as he is in many films.
Where Does Chandler Pretend To Move To Get Away From Janice?
At first, we thought it was quite funny what the show tried to do with Janice, if a little mean-spirited, but by the end of the run they were really just bullying. The woman was lovely and had every right to a life just as pleasant as everyone in the main cast. Was it her fault that Chandler seemed to prey on her whenever he was having a hard time? No, so why did the Friends take it out on her?
Which Friend Owns A Giant Ceramic Dog?
Often writers will pull from the real world around them to help create something, which is exactly what happened with the famous ceramic dog from Friends. One of the actors actually had this dog bought for them as a celebratory gift, one to say well done on getting a part on Friends! We're not sure they could've been very happy to see the characters make fun of the gift at every conceivable opportunity! Must have felt like quite the slap in the face.
What Is Rachel's Father's Job?
Of all the parental characters that are trotted out throughout the entire series, we have to say that we think this guy is quite possibly the most unpleasant of them all. We know that this is how he was written on purpose so we suppose it's a good bit of work on the part of the writers, but you think they could've added in one single redeeming feature about the man. He borders on a parody if you ask us.
How Many Sisters Does Joey Have?
The choice to make one of the characters is a decision that we think was smart on the part of the writers, as it allowed them to show a side of the American experience that others may not have known about before watching the show. It also implicitly shows how American society is made up of completely different people, a whole patchwork of human beings that don't all align in one way. This is what America is about and people should be proud.
What Is Chandler's Middle Name?
If you're anything like us, you keep your middle name close to your chest, never sharing it with anyone who you think might out your secret if they thought it was worth a laugh. No, we're not going to tell you our name, but just be aware that it is not something that we're particularly proud of. If anything, you should be making fun of our parents for giving us the name, not laughing at the victim of what seems like a cruel joke.
What Do The Friends Make A Giant Poking Device For?
There aren't many other sitcoms from around the time where you could write this sort of sentence and know that you are asking a legitimate question about one of the various storylines that takes place throughout the series, which is one of the reasons we really enjoy Friends. While it has a foundation in reality, it also ends up pushing it to absurd places. These are the sorts of absurd things that could happen in real life, usually while giddy with friends.
Where Does David Move To?
You already know how we feel about this character and how he could've brought more to the show, so we won't go on about that anymore. What we will say is that this man's real name is Hank Azaria, and if you didn't already know, you won't be able to watch Friends anymore without hearing the various characters this man voices for The Simpsons. In fact, he has recently been wrapped up in the latest controversy as he voices Apu!
What Is The Name Of Joey's Teddy Penguin?
Looking back, the writers on Friends were playing a bit of a dangerous game by constantly adding in little references to how childlike Joey was. If you combine that with his lack of intelligence, then you've got a recipe for implying that he has some form of disability. Honestly, it's a shame that writers still feel the need to put stupid people into their sitcoms, as the laughs have been getting stale for a very long time now if you ask us.
Where Does Chandler's Dad Live?
One of the many problems with Friends when placed in a more modern and progressive context is Chandler's obsession with sexuality and his strained relationship with his father. The annoying thing is, they could've used his character to make a really important point about family and the troubles that non-standard families go through in the real world, but sadly, they usually just use it to make tired and boring jokes that were probably getting old when they were first written.
What Is The Name Of The Dog That Chandler Pretends To Be Allergic To?
We always thought it was odd that everyone was shocked that Chandler didn't like dogs, as if there aren't loads of people out there who find them scary or put them on edge. Honestly, we know that more people like dogs than don't like them, but we've also met a hell of a lot of people out there who don't like being around dogs for whatever reason. It's not such an odd thing that you'd be shocked by finding it out.
