What started out as a simple book series has quickly evolved into an entire culture. Harry Potter has developed into a fully fleshed franchise that has spawned seven books, eight movies, and a play that serves as an epilog for the entire series. There's no denying that people love this franchise and are willing to throw money at it faster than Mountain Dew junkies on a Call of Duty release. It has even spawned a prequel series of movies based off of a measly textbook!

Between all of these books and movies, there's a lot to the Wizarding World, and old J.K. Rowling has really outdone herself in spades. The movies are just enough to give you a good chunk of the world's lore, but the books are where you're going to get all of the information. Basically, there are almost no limits to what this world has to offer, and you'll get out of it whatever you put into it.

Because of this, there are many people who claim to be true Harry Potter fans. If you're among this crowd, then we've got the perfect quiz for you. If you fail, you might want to rethink calling yourself a true Potterhead.

Question 1

Which Potion is Known as "Liquid Luck"?

Horace Slughorn was the new Potions Master at Hogwarts during The Half-Blood Prince. He often rewarded brilliant students, and this led him to give out an impressive potion to any wizard who could create the best death potion. This tonic was also known as "Liquid Luck" and could give the drinker complete confidence and accomplish anything they set out to do. It worked. However, it was known by another name in the series, and one that was more fitting for its advanced effects.

Question 2

Who was Harry Potter's first crush?

As Harry grew up at the school he loved, it was only a matter of time before he developed feelings for another person. In the Goblet of Fire, we as the audience got to see Harry deal with puberty and the feelings for another woman. He tried asking her to the Yule Ball, but she was already taken. In Order of the Phoenix, the two finally shared some powerful scenes together and even ended up kissing. Their relationship didn't last long, though.

Question 3

What was the name of Harry Potter's oldest son?

Question 4

Arthur Weasley was originally going to die

J.K. Rowling got a lot of flack for killing so many of her characters in Harry Potter. However, there were others who would've joined the list had she not given it a second thought. Whether this means he was going to die or not, it's clear that Harry had plenty of loss at the time.

Question 5

Who was Tonks' son's godfather?

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Remus and Tonks announce that they are going to have a child in the near future. Harry and his friends are excited for them, but with the Second Wizarding War looming over them, that excitement quickly turned to fear. Because of this, Lupin decided that he was going to seek out a particular wizard whom he felt could take care of their boy if anything happened to them. Unfortunately, things did happen to them.

Question 6

Which of these was not a horcrux of Lord Voldemort?

Horcruxes are some seriously dark magic, and Voldemort had the most out of any wizard. Splitting his soul into seven different fragments was something unheard of in the magical universe. Voldemort found many different artifacts where he was able to hide a piece of his soul. He had taken a goblet and even a ring. These Horcruxes were in hard to find places so that anyone who tried to destroy him would nearly die themselves in the process. Yet there were weaknesses.

Question 7

What is Neville Longbottom's greatest fear?

In perhaps one of the funniest Harry Potter moments of all time, Remus Lupin, as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, brought in a Boggart to Hogwarts. This creature takes the shape of peoples' greatest fears. Neville was the first person to face it. Thankfully, Professor Lupin was there to walk Neville through it the entire way, so he was prepared with a special spell when his greatest fear walked into the room. Do you remember what his fear was?

Question 8

Who was the original bearer of the cloak of invisibility?

Question 9

What was the name of the Weasleys' owl?

In the Wizarding World, owls are their only method of delivery, so it's necessary for every family to have one. The Weasley's had an old bird. Unlike many other owls in the series, it was very incompetent and probably close to his deathbed. When delivering packages, he frequently fell flat on his face before recovering and flying away. No doubt, it was very embarrassing for Ron and Ginny. It was also quite funny because of how different it was to Harry's beautiful owl.

Question 10

What material is inside of Harry Potter's wand?

Each wand is different, and as the merchant Olivander puts it, they choose the wizard. When Harry Potter went to get his first wand, Olivander had him test out many different models with little success. Then the old wandmaker wondered if he could bring out a wand that was connected to Lord Voldemort's in some way. Strangely enough, the wand chose Harry Potter and became his go-to weapon for the entire series. If only somebody didn't break it during the Deathly Hallows.

Question 11

What was James Potter's nickname?

The Marauder's Map is a fascinating piece of magic, and it was created by people known as Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs. At this point, it's just a matter of figuring out what animal James Potter turned into and what nickname he was given as a result.

Question 12

Sirius Black bought Harry his first broom.

However, because he wasn't raised in the magical world, he had no grasp of what a broom was, how it specifically worked, or how to get one. Harry grew much more respect and love for said person afterward.

Question 13

What is the function of Finite Incantatem?

Finite Incantatem is a spell that appears several times in the Harry Potter series. While it's not always well described what the function is, it can be summed up in one single sentence. She used it to stop a rogue bludger from crushing Harry and even suggested it to Ron when he was masquerading as a worker for the Ministry of Magic.

Question 14

There is a female house elf named Winky

In the Harry Potter universe, there is a lot more information you need to pull from the books. As far as the movies go, Dobby and Kreacher are the only two house elves in the series. They're poor little servants who try to help Harry and his friends, but aren't the most effective of the bunch. In the books, it's likely that there would be more house elves (as well as some females), but are they ever given any names?

Question 15

What was Hagrid getting at Nocturn Alley in The Chamber of Secrets?

After mispronouncing "Diagon Alley," Harry Potter was sent by the Floo Network to Nocturn Alley. This dodgy place was full of strange witches and wizards, and it Harry would've been doomed had Hagrid not shown up. What's more strange about this scene is that Nocturn Alley almost never becomes a big plot point in the future.

Question 16

After all this time?

Without a doubt, the most tragic story in Harry Potter is that of Severus Snape. After falling in love with Lily Potter, he had to watch her get closer to James and saw the two get married. Yet in all that time, he cared for her and, in turn, cared for Harry as well. It was so much that his Patronus was a doe- the same as Lily's. When Dumbledore asked him, "After all this time?" Snape merely replied with a single, simple answer.

Question 17

Finish this quote: "I must not tell..."

Dolores Umbridge was one of the most hated people in the entire series, probably more so than Lord Voldemort himself. One of the reasons for this is that she forced Harry Potter to stop spreading the word that Voldemort had come back and even punished him severely for it. The first punishment was having him use a pen that would then cut into his skin whatever words he wrote down on paper. Thankfully, Harry got his revenge in due time with the same words.

Question 18

Peeves the Poltergeist was never planned to be in the movies

One of the most painful omissions of the Harry Potter story when becoming films was Peeves the Poltergeist. This mischievous ghost graced the halls of Hogwarts in the books and was so popular that many wondered why he never quite made it into the film. While he didn't add much to the books other than a few classic gags, it wouldn't make sense to leave such a significant and beloved character from the films. Did they ever plan to put him in the movie?

Question 19

Who was the first person to be petrified by the Basilisk?

During the Chamber of Secrets, the room of the same name was opened, unleashing a Basilisk on Hogwarts. The snake moved through the halls and petrified many of the people living there. From there, they turned a corner and saw a terrible sight of a being who was petrified.

Question 20

Harry and Dudley got along after the end of the series

Harry was unfortunate enough to grow up in a house where he was the cousin to a spoiled brat named Dudley. The two never got along, each having hatred for the other. However, things became much different as they got older. Dudley was attacked by Dementors and was then saved through Harry's quick thinking. When the threat of Voldemort grew, the two eventually separated but remained in contact. They even visited each other once they both had children and wives.

Question 21

What was Dumbledore's sisters name?

The story of Albus Dumbledore is a fairly sad one, and that revolves heavily around his sister. She was attacked by boys who saw her performing magic, and her powers then became uncontrollably dangerous. One of her magical episodes resulted in the death of the Dumbledores' mother. Sadly, she wouldn't catch a break. During a duel between Albus, Aberforth, and Grindelwald, she took a curse on the sidelines and was killed instantly. This event would shape the rest of her brothers' lives.

Question 22

Which of these wizards was particularly gifted at memory charms?

Memory charms are some of the most useful and dangerous spells in the Wizarding World. With one use of the word "Obliviate," somebody's memory can be completely gone and they'll never return to whom they once were. Many wizards used this in the series, but some wizards were especially gifted as this type of magic, and there was one in particular who essentially made it their trademark and was probably the only spell they were good at using. Guess who?

Question 23

Who was Draco Malfoy's Wife?

While it's not explicitly stated in the books or films, Draco Malfoy married a woman at the end of the series and the two had a child together. She was a Slytherin and raised to think that purebloods were the only people who should be allowed to practice magic. After the Second Wizarding War, however, she and Draco both went back on this belief, much to the disgust of Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy. Yet, Draco feels that she is in the right and loves her anyway.

Question 24

Which of these wizards was not a Death Eater?

By the time Order of the Phoenix had come around, the Death Eaters had come out of hiding. There were many who gained this title, such as Severus Snape, Bellatrix Lestrange, and even Lucius Malfoy. These Death Eaters were Voldemort's most loyal followers and had access to some of the darkest magic in the series in order to kill those who opposed them and hunt down the Boy Who Lived. However, one of these people was not a Death Eater and had a different profession.

Question 25

Finish This Quote: "I open at the..."

One of the mysteries of the Deathly Hallows was the golden snitch that Dumbledore gave Harry in his will. After toying around with it, Harry and Hermione remembered that Snitch's have flesh memories of the first person who touched them. When Harry pretended to swallow it again, it revealed a single sentence that hinted at what he was to do. Once he figured it out, Harry became a master of death and headed toward his fate. All that in a single little snitch.
