When George Lucas came up with Star Wars, no one believed in it. Even after he managed to get the greenlight from 20th Century Fox, there was still little faith in the project. In fact, some theaters only agreed to screen Star Wars, the weird little space movie, if they could have another movie from Fox that was expected to succeed. But then that other movie completely tanked and Star Wars became the highest grossing movie of all time. Since then, Star Wars has become a pop culture phenomenon that is beloved across the world. There were two sequels back then, and then a few years later, there was a whole prequel trilogy that led up to where the first one began, and then a few years after that, Disney acquired the rights and started with a sequel trilogy.
