Question 1

"Who is that girl I see staring straight back at me? When will my reflection show who I am inside?"

A lot of Disney films deal with the universal theme of figuring out who we are as a person. So many things in life can change the way we look at our surroundings and in most cases, can change the way we look at ourselves. No matter what it is always important for us to find our inner voice and follow it to become the person we were meant to be. Hint: This film had a promotion with McDonald's that you might remember thanks to its reference in the popular Adult Swim show Rick and Morty.

Question 2

"Unbelievable sights, indescribable feeling. Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling through an endless diamond sky."

This song comes from a Disney film that took inspiration directly from "The Book of One Thousand and One Nights," also known as "The Arabian Nights." The song is from a part of the film where the two main characters journey across the sky on a magic carpet. Hint: One of the characters of this film is voiced by the late Robin Williams who would only be a part of the film if the studio agreed not to use his name in the advertising as a way to promote the film because he believed it was incredible on its own.

Question 3

"Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long."

Now this may not be a Disney original, but this rendition by the band Rascal Flatts fits the film perfectly. The film follows the story of a young hotshot who finds himself stuck in a small town where he is forced to shift gears in order to fit in. The film has spawned two sequels and is from the Disney/Pixar animation branch and features the voices of some great Hollywood actors like Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, and Larry the Cable Guy.

Question 4

"You've got a friend in me"

If you aren't able to get this one right off the bat, I just might have to question your loyalty as a Disney fan! This film was one of the first Disney films I saw and has always been one of my favorites for that reason. The film really explored the meaning of friendship and the importance of imagination, two things that are incredibly formative to a growing mind! Hint: This film world was revealed to be a part of the video game "Kingdom Hearts III"

Question 5

"When I was a lad I ate four dozen eggs Ev'ry morning to help me get large And now that I'm grown I eat five dozen eggs So I'm roughly the size of a barge!"

With a meal like that every morning, it would be hard to imagine becoming anything other than large! This film is a tale as old as time itself and is considered by some to be a cautionary tale about Stockholm Syndrome. Hint: In the original Broadway production of this show, the lead male character was played by Terrence Mann, who I have had the pleasure of listening to his stories of artistic success and wild tales of auditions across the world.

Question 6

"You poor unfortunate soul It's sad, but true. If you want to cross a bridge, my sweet; you've got to pay the toll."

From The Three Billy Goats Gruff to just about any other classic folk tale, tolls and bridges go hand in hand. This Disney film is an adaptation of an old folk story and has been adapted into a multiple film franchise, a broadway show, and has even appeared in some video game series. Hint: In the context of both the song and film, the toll that is to be paid to cross a bridge is a metaphorical one instead of an actual bridge.

Question 7

"Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming."

This lyric should be a dead giveaway to two of the greatest animated features in recent memory. If you can't name this film, then you just might suffer from short term memory loss like the character who sings this song. This film is about a pair of fish who have to cross the ocean in order to find one of the fish's lost son. Question 9

"Like a bolt out of the blue, fate steps in and sees you through. When you wish upon a star your dreams come true."

I was surprised to learn that this song actually came from a Disney film and wasn't just an original song that accompanied Disney World attractions or the opening of every Disney film. This song encapsulates everything that Disney stands for. The belief that fate guides us and leads us to our ultimate destiny and that by wishing upon a star, we can make our wildest dreams come true. Hint: This song is sung by a small insect in a classic Disney film.

Question 10

"It's clear from your vacant expressions, the lights are not all on upstairs. But we're talking kings and successions, even you can't be caught unawares."

The best Disney villains are often ones that come across as charming but grounded. There is something to be said for a film being able to get the audience to question who they want to win by the end of the film. With a song like this, this film's protagonist very nearly accomplishes this incredible feat. Hint: The opening song of the film, "The Circle of Life," has lyrics that are misquoted by almost everyone. My favorite variation is: "Pink Pajamas, penguins on the bottom."

Question 11

"Time to give them something fun, they'll talk about for years to come. Lets have a cheer from everyone."

A song about spreading cheer and fun to everyone might make it difficult to narrow down just what Disney film this song comes from, but maybe a hint will help. The citizens of this town long to spread cheer, but in the end what they end up sharing is fear.

Question 12

"All of my life, I have searched for a land Like this one A wilder, more challenging country I couldn't design Hundreds of dangers await And I don't plan to miss one"

Disney films often deal with taking a journey away from home and loved ones to explore an unknown land. Along the way, characters learn about themselves, their surroundings and the people they will eventually become. This film is no different in that respect. Plenty of Disney films have tropical locations, but this film really nails the Hawaiian aesthetic. It features a rogue alien experiment that crash lands on the island and befriends a little girl when she accidentally adopts him. Little did she and her family know, the alien is being hunted by its master, his companion, and a large alien captain. Did you know: The scene of the film where the alien ship dodges mountains and dangerous rock formations was originally designed to take place in the city but was changed due to the comparison that could be drawn to 9/11 imagery.

What can I say except you're welcome for such an easy question? It featured a return to the traditional hand drawn animation that had fallen to the side in the recent years due to the advent of digital film production. This song is from a newer Disney/Pixar animated film. In the film, a young princess is at odds with accepting her role in her society and finds herself going on an adventure where she comes to term with who she is. Question 21

"Everybody wants to be a cat, because a cat's the only cat who knows where it's at."

One thing Disney has always been good at is giving animals human like features and behaviors that make them, likable, relatable, and sympathetic. This song is from a criminally underrated Disney film that meshes together live action and animation, although not to the extent of something like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" In this film, animated characters find themselves in the real world in New York City but still maintain their fantasy costumes and outlooks on life. This mix leads to some truly funny moments in the film and some great opportunities for live action musical moments. If you haven't seen this film, you're missing out!
