Question 1

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

Every once and awhile, a game comes along that completely revolutionizes the concept of what a video game can be. This is a double edged sword, though, as it may usher in a new era of fun and experimentation, but is more likely to appeal to a bunch of copycat developers. Still, the influence that these sorts of games have had cannot be denied, and it's insane to look back at what 3D video games were before this game came along.

Question 2

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

For some reason, many video game fans not only have an obsession with slashing up as many enemies as physically possible but want the game to score them on their slashing ability while they're doing it. We're not sure where this impulse comes from, but we have to admit that this has lead to some video game developers creating some absolutely insane video game combat and scoring systems. Not all of them have been that great, but some are so in-depth, it's crazy.

Question 3

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

One thing that has always bugged us about the video game industry is that they're always trying to remake, reboot or make a sequel for a game that has already been released. We know that this isn't only on video games, but it feels like when you're getting into the double figures, that you're definitely going too far with this sort of stuff. If there was a Die Hard 15, would you go see it? Then why do we accept it from video games?

Question 4

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

Both video game developers and fans alike often seem to forget that the point of video games is that it allows you to interact with an artistic medium. There isn't that much point in trying to ape other forms of art and entertainment because video games have something that puts them above the rest, so why not use it? It's this interaction that makes the world fear video games, as they can put you in the same shoes as somebody society doesn't like.

Question 5

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

While we truly believe that video games should never attempt to ape the way that other media tries to tell a story, it must be said that, by taking a certain era or a certain facet of popular culture and turning it into a narrative, games can really turn up some magic. Playing a well-written game is like being offered a chance to frolic among a well-written movie in a way that no other medium has ever allowed human beings to do.

Question 6

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

As artists ourselves, one thing that we truly appreciate is the concept of the auteur, somebody who is able to bring an artistic feeling or creation into the real world without ever having to compromise the project for somebody else. All too often, people are forced to change their ideas in the world of video games, but every now and then someone is able to prove themselves worthy enough to be left alone to get on with whatever they want to do.

Question 7

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

It's insane to think in these days of facial capture software and high definition graphics that this is what used to pass for acceptable in the world of video games. Seriously, look at that face! If you ever saw somebody in the real world with that sort of face you would run in the opposite direction as fast as your legs could carry you. There is just something so artificial and sinister about it that we struggle to look at it for too long.

Question 8

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

While we definitely have a problem with the way that the video game industry seems to be allergic to changing or mixing up the established formula, even we have to admit that sometimes a spin-off can be a great idea. If done right, a spin-off can allow you to see more of a world that you loved, understand characters that didn't have a chance to be fully fleshed out, and try out gameplay that you may not be able to find anywhere else.

Question 9

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

If we're being honest, we don't really know why Disney hasn't made a bigger push to try and take over a huge amount of the video game industry. We're glad they haven't because they're an abhorrent company who will ruin the lives of thousands if it means protecting their brand and making more money. However, with their sway and financial backing, all it would take is a few good moves and they'd have a monopoly on the game industry as well.

Question 10

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

Isn't it odd how some games stick with people forever, while others just seem to fade away without ever really making as much of an impact? We love video games and know which our favorites are, but we're sure there are games that will have had a genuine impact on us in the past that we now no longer remember. The same can be said for books and films, but for some reason, it feels like video games should be easier to remember.

Question 11

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

It's a general rule of thumb that any film or television tie-in game is almost definitely going to be a flop that offers nothing other than a chance for some video game developers to cash in. Seriously, there are very few examples of them being successful, which is why it's great when they're able to pull off something special. There has been a bit of a change in attitude that these tie-in games are a chance to try new things, and we hope that it sticks.

Question 12

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

We spent most of our life not being particularly interested in horror as a genre, so now that we are, we can pretty much guarantee that there is nothing scarier than playing a well-crafted horror game. Sure, we prefer the psychological element that comes with the more atmospheric horror games, but we've had some laughs with the more gore-filled and shocking games as well. Silent Hill is arguably one of the most famous video game horror franchises, and for good reason.

Question 13

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

Look, we've had a lot of fun with Metal Gear Solid games in the past and we're glad that they exist, just as glad as we are that video game developers like Hideo Kojima continue to work in the industry to this day. That being said, this series has a real problem with dialogue and storytelling. The whole thing is a convoluted mess that is in dire need of a proper editor, but then that's the price you pay for a truly auteur driven project.

Question 14

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

There was once a time when the concept of being let loose in a video game world with a horse actually made us feel some excitement. Now, it has been done so many times that it has become mundane, to the point where we wish fewer games would do it now. We understand that some games take place in a time when you had to ride horses, but this isn't always the case. Just give us a car or the ability to fly. That's all we want.

Question 15

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

We've already said before that, without good gameplay, there's no way that a video game can last. While the game may be beautiful, nobody will be able to manage sitting through the entire game unless the gameplay makes said activity worth it. That being said, there are some games out there that are so visually stunning, it amazes us that they're not in art galleries somewhere. Honestly, the visual design of games like this is nothing short of fantastic when compared to most video games.

Question 16

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

We've never managed to get into fighting games in the same way that others seem to. have, because we just don't find it fun to memorize all of these combos just to beat somebody else in a competitive field. We don't get it. However, it can be really fun to bring a few people into your home to smash buttons together and try to beat each to a pulp. That sort of thing definitely does appeal to us, if we're being honest.

Question 17

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

The Jak & Daxter series has provided us with a lot of fun over the years. They're a great example of what can be achieved if you set out to make a game that is fun and accessible while still balancing that with a challenge. Sure, they became quite derivative at times, but then, which game isn't without its flaws? While the franchise won't win any awards for innovating, sometimes, all you need is an interesting set of characters, well-written dialogue and some fun gameplay.

Question 18

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

Just as the rest of the entertainment industry has come up with their own wacky crossovers, video games are no different. While some people hate this sort of stuff, we think that it can actually lead to some great video games, as long as the game doesn't spend too long just servicing the fans. Throw in a couple of interesting gameplay mechanics and a gaming crossover can be a really rewarding thing, something that we urge other designers to try in the future.

Question 19

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

It's games like this that prove that using grays, browns and other sepia tones don't have to mean your game looks like a boring mess. We're sick of video game developers doing it, but if paired with the right art direction and put into the hands of some people who know what they're doing, you can come out with something pretty special. This game continues to top people's lists of all-time greatest games, so it must be doing something right.

Question 20

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

There are a lot of people out there who are getting really sick of a very specific developer attempting to turn video games into films. We've talked about it already, but there really is no point in this. You're taking away the most important part of a video game which is the interaction element. Gameplay is the main reason we're here, so if you continue to neglect that, it won't be long before you're no longer able to make games anymore.

Question 21

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

When we were younger, we used to hate the fact that there were games out there made explicitly to be as difficult as possible. It felt like these games were locking us out from the fun that other people were clearly having with them. Little did we know that this hatred was all part of the process. The enjoyment of these types of games comes from conquering a set of systems that completely batter you at first. Now we love them.

Question 22

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

It's odd that so many video games out there are obsessed with the concept of getting the player behind the wheel of a car. We're not being funny, but most people in this world have to spend most of their life behind the wheel of a car, so why would they want to play a more reckless version of it in a video game? We can understand it must feel pretty good to run over all the people you wish you could during your commute, but otherwise, what's the point?

Question 23

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

We've never really understood these games, but some people just absolutely love playing a character who can take on an insane number of enemies at once, no matter how ridiculous it may look and sound. This sort of stuff seems to be just a chance for the player to be a hero, but then, why don't they go the whole hog? Make me some sort of superhero or fantasy character rather than a regular dude with a bit of a tweak!

Question 24

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

While we're all for the argument that video games are art, that doesn't mean art can't be goofy and fun sometimes. When we've got to the point where art can let us beat the hell out of each while we pretend to be rappers, then we think we've reached the peak of what we can achieve. We're fairly sure there isn't a goofier idea that hasn't appealed to us as much as this one does, and it still hasn't been topped to this day.

Question 25

Which PS2 Game Is This Screenshot From?

Why is it that the greatest forms of entertainment just never get the reception that they deserve? Games like this always get looked over, meaning that when it comes to a publisher picking exactly what game designer to pick next, they always go for the same sort of stuff. They pick Call Of Duty and GTA because they know that it'll make money. No wonder, when absolutely fantastic games like this come out and nobody ends up buying it because it's too interesting for their tiny heads to understand.
