So, we decided to throw this one into the quiz early on for the major hip-hop fans, because if you know this guy's face then you know who this album is by. Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

Quite possibly one of the most famous album covers of all time, you will have definitely seen this image at some point in the past, but that doesn't mean you know what musician it belongs to. Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

It seems almost like a pre-requisite that musicians these days need to tease their audiences with their next big project as if it wasn't enough that we've spent years waiting for it. Weird to think that there was a time when people would try and push through their music as fast as possible in the hope of capitalizing on their fame. It's good to know that some artists still spend as much time as they need to on their work and don't rush it.

Question 8

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

Seriously, can you tell that we're a big fan of the white on black stuff? We don't personally enjoy this album, but we'd be lying if we said we didn't think this was some absolutely ace graphic design. People will still love this album cover and be able to recognize it for decades to come, so someone will be making money off it.

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

So, what do we think about this cover? A little bit too obtuse? We actually really like this one, but we could understand why someone wouldn't be so keen. Maybe we just really like the album but don't actually like the cover? Now that we've heard the music, we'll never know.

Question 10

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

As you may be able to see already, this album cover actually bears a striking resemblance to another album cover that we've already had on this list, which we imagine isn't a coincidence so you've for yourself a bit of a clue there. When we were younger we used to think that the concept behind this band was pretty stupid, but now that we're older we can really respect what they were trying to achieve. That being said, their music hasn't always done it for us.

Question 11

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

This one actually reminds us of the hotel image above. However, this one feels slightly more authentic than the one above. We really like how grubby they've made the image so you really have to squint to see what is going on, which is a genius idea when it comes to getting people to know your album in a shop. That being said, that was probably less of a struggle back in the days of vinyl rather than the days of CDs.

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

Of all the obtuse album covers on this list, we think that has to be our absolute favorite. We honestly have no idea why it appeals to us, but it does. In fact, we would happily have this on a t-shirt, which would definitely lead to some odd looks in public. Either you get the reference or you don't and those that don't wouldn't even be able to guess why you had a picture of a cow stretched across your chest.

Question 14

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

Yeah, see, too obtuse again. It's such an interesting tightrope walk that we really can't even explain why it is that this sort of stuff has never got to us, and yet there are very specific examples that do. Reckon there is anyone doing work into figuring out why images with very little can have a very specific effect on a human being's brain? We imagine there isn't much money in that sort of research, which is a shame because it's interesting!

Question 15

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

For us, this one just goes a little bit too far. Sometimes somebody needs to be standing in the background to tell you that you've gone too far and need to pull it back, which is advice that works for both creating album art and creating music. You ever heard some music and you can clearly tell that the person making it was never stopped at any point and told that they really needed to start stripping back some of the layers?

Question 16

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

Honestly, if you like this band, then we doubt that we can ever get along with you because they pretty much stand for everything we hate about certain parts of the music industry. Not only that, but the cover is absolute trash as well. They are so full of themselves that they can't even pick a single album cover, they have to throw every single idea that they had into one cover. Man, what a bunch of idiots these guys are.

Question 17

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

This is another one of those albums that everybody should be listening to, and yet we bet that most people haven't. If you've got any interest in this sort of music then you owe it to yourself to give the album a look. We recommend it highly. As for the cover art, we're actually a huge fan. We personally like these styles of illustration that place various things within someone's head. Is that just us? We know that it has been done to death at this point, but it's still great.

Question 18

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

While we don't really like the music that is on this album, we think that the cover is brilliant. It makes us think of when people in films photocopy themselves at Christmas parties, but it actually looks artistic and interesting rather than just rude. We would like to know who came up with this idea and whether or not it was just a random idea that they decided upon one day. Did they just see a photocopier and have it come to them?

Question 19

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

There is something really trippy about this image that we really like. If you've ever messed around with a camera at some point in your life, you'll know how fun it is when you're getting started to mess about with the exposure on the camera and morph your friends into weird nightmare monsters that you would find nowhere other than your own brain after sleeping with a belly full of cheese. As a side note, where does the science world stand on cheese causing bad dreams?

Question 20

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

We actually have a lot of love for this album cover, as it lets you know who is in the band while also giving off some color and intrigue. We can see why the rather plain art style might not be for everyone, but we think that a cover with too much going on distracts from the fact that you're here for the music, so this one definitely hits the right balance for us. You never want to be the band best known for your album covers.

Question 21

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

We're not making a comment on the band or the music, but if you see a cover like this then you can be fairly sure that the band think they're a lot better than they actually are, pumping out music that we've already heard but pretending that they're bringing something new to the masses. That's what you get when people are taught from a young age that everything they do matters. It doesn't and what you've done is terribly bad.

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

We have to admit that if we're going to make a preference, we've always been a fan of this sort of minimalist style, not only as an album cover but also in art in general. This sort of thing goes great with modern art and graphic design. It gets your point across quickly and the stark lack of any complex imagery can really jar with the audience. We're into it and we wish that a lot of other people were too.

Question 23

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

Just like one of the earlier entries, this one gets our minimalist gland twitching like nobody's business. This is the sort of thing that you would love to have on a t shirt, which is exactly what any new band should be trying to achieve. This sort of thing is like crack to young kids who want to show their love for a band while still looking as cool as possible. It looks pretty sick to us, but then we were those kids.

Question 24

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

Yet another thing that you could see on a t-shirt, this band knows how to get people buying their merchandise. In fact, this is such a good image that we could imagine it being sold without the album, just as a good piece of work by a great graphic designer. We've never been too keen on the name of the album though if we're being honest. There is something really bland and boring about it that really doesn't hit the right chord with us.

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

Quite possibly one of the greatest debut studio albums of all time? Sure, he'd released music before this, but this was his chance to show the world that he deserved a label backing, and if you ask us, he proved it perfectly. Honestly, if you've never heard of this album you have to go and throw it into your life right now. This is the sort of stuff that only comes around once and a while, so you want to be a part of it.

Question 26

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

We're not sure how we feel about this image. While sometimes we can look at it and see some beauty in it, half the time we look at it and see the sort of art that you'd find on the wall in a cheap hotel. Seriously, just make a mental image of this album cover, close your eyes and imagine you're looking at it on a motel wall. See what we mean now? Sorry if we've ruined this cover for you now.

Question 27

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

If you ask us, this band was originally ripping off a different band that we absolutely love, but in the end, they managed to pull it back and start creating stuff that was original and interesting. If you don't know who this is, we don't blame you, because they can come across as pretty weird to a lot of people. We like that weird sort of stuff though because it usually means that the artist put in a lot more work.

Question 28

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

While we have seen various examples of more graphic design and modern minimalist art in this quiz, there are still those who go for a more standard and traditional art style for their album covers. It's a little bit obtuse for us and doesn't give you any insight into what the band or the music is actually like.

Question 29

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

This is quite possibly one of our all-time favorite album covers, because it has the artsy stuff to pull that sort of crowd in, while also perfectly summing up the name of the album and the music within. Honestly, go out and buy this album, because it is fantastic and we wish that more people liked them across the world. There's a very specific area of the world that does love them, but it just isn't enough if you ask us.

Question 30

Can You Match This Album Cover With The Artist?

We're going to be totally straight with you here and tell you that we've actually only ever heard one song by these guys, but we do really like it. We felt like we should include this cover because we think it's really cool and, if everyone else is anything like us, they've never really heard of these people before. Honestly, one song on this album is worth a look, but we can't really speak for any other songs on the album.
