While the show is plagued by long arcs, fights that rarely have an emotional investment, and a bad case of the hero must always save the day, Dragon Ball Z rocks. In fact, one could even say the long-running anime...rocks the dragon.
But in all seriousness, what endears Dragon Ball Z to so many people isn't its various flaws but the iconic moments for a generation. You can forget about how long Goku's fight with Frieza is simply by remembering your awe at Goku going Super Saiyan or your frustration at Cell continuously recovering from the most devastating injuries when you recall Gohan obliterating him with the Father-Son Kamehameha.
For the most part, this quiz will focus on Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z only, although there will be some references and questions about Dragon Ball Super with that show still airing. Both the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT will not have questions related to their shows, although an occasional reference may be made. Movies from Dragon Ball Z are eligible as well.

But, as we soon learn, Vegeta (not the prince or the king, but the planet) was destroyed in a meteor shower that isn't totally Frieza blowing it up with his Death Ball. Roughly how many years following the planet's destruction is Dragon Ball Z's Saiyan Saga?

Believe it or not, Frieza has a son, though we have no idea how his species can reproduce. Is it through eggs? Is it through normal reproduction where he mates with a female? While we only saw Majin Buu absorb Gotenks, Piccolo, and Son Gohan in the show, the video games and joke comics have allowed for what-if scenarios where the demon takes on aspects and powers from other characters. Frieza has a son and Vegeta has a brother? What? Yes, Vegeta's brother was introduced in the 2008 "Yo! Son Goku and his Friends Return!!!" special in Japan, where it's revealed he was exiled because of a low fighting power. Awful. but there's some intrigue to such a character and it's a shame we haven't seen more of him since then. Although, he was confirmed canon when Bulma and Vegeta make reference to him against Beerus, so what is his name?
In Namekian, Piccolo's name means...
Even in Dragon Ball Z's other races and cultures, the names still mean something. Piccolo's name, in fact, actually has a meaning in the Namekian language, even if it's one the powerful warrior didn't know for a long time - and, given he was dead when the name's meaning was explained, he still may not know. Piccolo's history is a bit difficult to explain, though we'll certainly try out best. Originally, a Namekian whose name has been lost to time was sent to Earth and auditioned to be the planet's guardian, but had too much evil inside him. So, the Namekian split himself into Kami and King Piccolo, the latter of whom 'gave birth' to the current Piccolo hundreds of years later. Before Dragon Ball Super was ever a thing and the series was enjoying continued success thanks to video games, the Bardock hype train was one that allowed him to get his own OVA: Episode of Bardock. For the Xbox gamers out there who have become spoiled by every Dragon Ball game being on the 360 and the One, you may be surprised to learn nearly every PS2 game in the Xbox era was on PS2 or GameCube. Where this nickname originated from among the fandom is beyond me, but it's an extremely popular one that's been around in America since Dragon Ball Z was still airing new episodes in the early 2000s, so who am I to say anything? Even when Super dropped and updated us on Trunks' adventures in the future, people were still calling him by this nickname. WIth the Funimation dub for the original Dragon Ball Z (not Dragon Ball Z Kai, which also is dubbed by Funimation), there were just so many fantastic musical scores and themes for each character. When you heard Vegeta's theme, you knew things were about to go down and Vegeta was about to do or say something completely badass. Though his signature theme is officially known as Vegeta's Theme, fans have given it a nickname over the years that sounds much better.
How old is Goku when Dragon Ball Z ends?
This can be a tricky question because of different variables, so I'll put this as simply as I can: if you take Goku's birth year and take when he died, even with the eight total years he spent dead, how old would the legendary Saiyan warrior be? These aren't misprints - Goku was indeed around his 50s when the series ends and he goes off to train Uub, so he's passed the 40 mark with where we currently are in Super. Any guesses?
